:( I feel like she's always been a genuine person from what I've seen and I believe that she doesn't care about what people think apart from the people she holds close. It sucks that she was made to do this interview against her will and now she'll regret it. I wish things weren't as messy as it is for 4minute, they were always such a fun group
This hurt my heart to watch.Fuck anyone who blamed her for the disbandment. Its clear that that wasnt what she wanted and its still bothering her. obligatory:Fuck Cube
aww :(( i feel like cube never really supported the other members but hyuna always loved and supported them. i hope they find success too. i know jiyoon is going to debut as a solo but do the other members have anything lined up?
Ugh this was so upsetting, i mean i had a hard time with all the gifs on tumblr. Poor Hyuna. Idk, i hope at some point they at least talk to each other, away from cameras and the likes.
but my goodness is this manipulative! I don't doubt that her emotions are genuine because even if 4Minute were nothing than band mates, it's still upsetting when your coworkers lose their jobs. But the way it was filmed with tiny Hyuna coming into the press room all by her lonesome self and the music, it was so obvious a PR ploy to sway the public sympathy to her side.
CUBE is horrible for breaking the group and I don't blame Hyuna for staying because job security is important! But with that choice, she had to know that she will have to speak on this issue because she's the only one left out of the group who is in the public eye right now. There's consequences to any choice one must make and this one is an obvious one for her choosing to stay.
It maybe a translation issue but when Hyuna was questioning why she's the only one getting asked about the disbandment, I was slightly eye rolly because "duh girl! You survived the Hunger Games, of course you gonna have to talk about it!"
i think the part you're talking about was translated a bit vaguely (if we're talking about the same part). she said something more along the lines of "they haven't been able to talk about this anywhere, and HAVEN'T talked about it, yet I'm the only one made to talk about it as nonchalantly as when I talk about my next album release."
I think she's saying she hates that it's being discussed and treated so lightly, when it's something quite heavy and serious to her...so she'd rather not talk about it willy-nilly.
ia w/what you said in that it's put together tho like i don't doubt her at all n i'm sure she was being genuine as she always seems to have been? but it was def set up like this on purpose to make you feel bad for her
I rewatched after your comment and you're right, her sentiments were more towards the fact that she had to talk about disbanding in the same breath that she's talking about her new release cause one is weightier than the other. But once again, what did she and CUBE expected? These are fair questions that should be addressed and I blame Cube for not prepping her for it. Obviously Cube is not powerful enough to issue like a question ban at interviews or something, but they could have prepped her with better answers that would put the issue to rest.
I've no media background but every time Kpop has a scandal, I, a person whose only experience in PR comes from gossipy sites, is just internally yelling " OMG WHAT ARE YOU DOING [insert company's name here]?! YOU SHOULD HAVE BLAH BLAH INSTEAD!!" =/
yeah ia, it's a huge issue and everyone wants to know what's going on bc it felt like the news came out of nowhere and no one got any closure, like "oh btw 4min is disbanded LOL"
and for cube to give her a comeback before the situation cooled down, of course people are going to ask her about it. i can't blame her for being human and not wanting to go through with this tho, it must be really stressful
YES i guess they wanted to ride the coattails of this for media play? like "4min and hyuna are a big issue now that they disbanded so let's give her a comeback and get lots of free press" which works, but imo puts hyuna in an awkward, emotionally heavy position.
i don't think the disbandment is hyuna's fault but she's sounding more like someone who doesn't want to be bothered on the issue than someone that would really like to clarify things
to me 4minute always seemed like a down to earth group, i think it wouldn't be hard for them to come together someday in the future to talk about it tbh
Even though this gave off PR vibes, I lost it when she said the members would hate her when they see the interview.... Poor thing shouldn't have to be thrown to the wolves to talk about the very thing they're tearing her apart over. Cube should address questions on disbanding not her
i truly believe this is not what she wanted. i feel bad for her and the rest of 4minute because cube is totally using the disbandment as a marketing ploy and it's horrible that hyuna is being used for this.
i wonder if the members are still on contact with each other
Maybe OP is referring to the rumor that someone posted on onehallyu that Cube wanted to kick out Gayoon, making the group choose between Hyuna and Gayoon.
