JYP Surpasses SM And YG In Second Quarter Sales Reports

JYP Entertainment has achieved the highest results out of the big three entertainment companies in terms of their second quarter profits.

The entertainment company recently released its sales numbers, revealing a huge boost from the previous year. Profit numbers increased to 3.8 billion won, which is 370.6 percent higher in comparison to their previous numbers. The sales number also increased to 17.9 billion won, which is a 52.7 percent increase within this year.

Based on these numbers, JYP gained the highest profit numbers out of the big three entertainment companies. JYP’s profit ratio was 21.2 percent, beating out YG Entertainment’s 8.7 percent ratio. JYP especially received attention for overturning SM Entertainment, who recorded a 2.4 billion won deficit from 769 billion won.

A source from JYP stated that 2PM, miss A, as well as GOT7 and TWICE have all played a part in boosting sales. In fact, GOT7 and TWICE were seen as primary sources.

Recent activities like JYP Nation concerts, Jun.K debuting as a solo artist, Wonder Girls maintaining number one on the music charts, and TWICE having a firm footing on the advertising market are some of the many factors that may positively influence JYP Entertainment for their third quarter report.

This time JYP just had much smaller costs compared to their revenue than both SM and YG. As while both SM and YG had much larger sales than JYP also their costs were much higher 'cause investments they have been doing in different sectors. And YG still manged to make more profit than JYP (YG made around 6,8 billion won).

After years of reading comments like 'JYP is done' 'JYP is over' 'They're not even in BIG4!!1' I can't believe we've reached a point when JYP did better than YG & SM in something and keeps releasing new music every month.

They improved so much. Their next goal should be making GOT7 popular with general public because they have sales and hold successful tours, the only thing they need is public recognition.

I feel like they've been steadily improving musically (Flight Log was a pretty solid release imo; the fact that the members had more songwriting input may have had something to do with it) but +1 to line distribution. the interesting thing about this is that it doesn't actually include wonder girls' digital numbers. second quarter was april to june so they're going to be in the third quarter. it makes sense to me that jyp would dominate over sm and yg during q2 though, given that exo released at the very end of q2 (and so did taeyeon) and yg released, like, barely anything. mostly, in terms of the big three quarterly so far it's been:

q1
jyp: suzy / baekhyun, jo kwon, g.soul, got7, day6
sm: station, suzy / baekhyun, ryeowook, taemin, red velvet
yg: winner, lee hi

q2
jyp: bernard park / lim, jyp, twice, g.soul, baek ah yeon, baek ye rin
sm: station, nct u, yesung, tiffany, jonghyun, luna, exo, taeyeon
yg: akdong musician, lee hi, ikon

q3
jyp: wonder girls, junho, fei, jun.k

q3 runs until the end of september so it's going to be interesting to see how it pans out for there. we know that cl is releasing a single but that's a us single so i don't know if i'll count, and then we have mino / bobby's subunit. jyp is gonna have jimin, 2pm and got7 is rumored as well. sm is gonna have shinee and red velvet. q4 is gonna be a total toss up. if twice is actually coming back then jyp will likely dominate because all sm really seems to have set up for q4 is the next nct subunit, seohyun's solo and... yeah. and who knows with yg.

JYP really has stepped up their game lately. I don't follow how well groups sell very closely, but I see it in passing every once in a while. Twice seems to be doing exceptionally well. I usually pay attention to boy groups just because its my preference, but both of Twice's title songs have had me bopping to them ever since they came out. I really like Wonder Girls' new band concept as well. 'I Feel You' I think will be a jam that stand the test of time. I have followed GOT7 ever since they were just JJ Project and I like most of their title songs, not all though. They have steadily been climbing the charts since they debuted which is nice to see. No doubt putting some of the members out on variety shows has gotten them a little more in sales as well.
