Uhm was iKON shade necessary since this podcast is not about them? Especially since their vocals are not bad at all and considering how much growth and improvement the vocal line showed. Those boys don't sleep and practice 12-14 hours a day for all their performances and their The Remix performances show that. It was really unnecessary.

I don't think Whistle sounds anything like a 2ne1 song and I also agree with Tim that Boombayah just has a Teddy sound. It actually gives me more of a Big Bang feel than 2ne1.

Personally, I enjoy Jennie both singing and rapping since she is really good at both. I also enjoy her tone a lot. And for me, rather than Rose sounding like CL (which is weird and first time I hear this) I think Lisa has a really similar tone to CL while rapping (not singing) and I see CL influence in both Lisa and Jennie as far as presence mannerisms and facial expressions go.

I find Lisa a far better dancer than Minzy with a far bigger range of styles but I agree these girls as a whole are far better than 2ne1 but considering 2ne1 had Bom and Dara it's understandable.

I can't say I approve of Teddy, and the producers involved, putting ululations into the song and I disapprove even more of the choreographer incorporating the 'dance moves' accompanying it, but I've become so desensitized to all of this because this is kpop and there isn't a company that hasn't pulled shit like this. I can't blame the girls because they have no say in it I just hope the girls themselves don't do anything ignorant in the future.

People, I feel, take this "they don't have the same feel that 2ne1 had when they debuted" thing a little too literally. Of course it's not the same feeling when 2ne1 came out there were far less girl groups and the groups that were already out were all in the similar or same vein which was cute/innocent so 2ne1 was really a shocking group that kinda broke the mold, whereas today, you have variations and different concepts, a lot more girls showing attitude and being cool rather than cute or sexy. You also had at least attempts of group with a bit rougher image since like Evol and G.I. Glam etc. regardless of longevity and results the "only cute/innocent" or "sexy/cute" type of concepts were broken.

I don't understand comments about BLACKPINK's 'charisma as a group' since we only saw the MVs, it's not like MVs can really show that, I think people should wait for the live performances and their variety appearances (prays they have some) and interviews, or at least watch the Making of videos. I actually got a really good vibe from them as a group they seem really close, cute and like they have a really tight bond. I mean they trained together for 5-4 years a longer period than 2ne1 trained together.

Boombayah is not an introductory song tho, you keep comparing it to Fire but 2ne1 debuted with Fire alone, one song, BLACKPINK debuted with two title songs Boombayah is not the title title song, it's one out of two title debut songs.

"If we're talking about vocal talent Winner blows iKON out of the water" uhmmm Winner has 1 good vocalist and I can give people that KSY is somewhat better than Junhoe but he's the only one who's a good vocalist in that group. Taehyun is in no universe better than Jinhwan Donghyuk and Yunhyeong, they're pretty much on the same level. So the two groups are on the same level in proportion to the number of people they have.

"They have better choreo" are you seriously saying Winner has better choreo than iKON......really now....seriously????

"Talent in general" implying that Winner as a group has more talent than iKON is ridiculous and unnecessary again.

I won't hold my breath for BLACKPINK on variety or even a TV show Winner got since iKON didn't get one so I doubt BP will either. They'll probably get a few VApp streams at the most.

It's ok, unnecessary iKON shade did get me heated so I get it might have come across as that, but it's just my opinion just like they offered theirs, people can agree or disagree. I disagree with some of theirs as it is apparent.

I'm gonna ignore the stuff about Winner and iKON because I don't think there's any world where iKON's vocals will ever hold up to Winner even with their improvement. I think the strategy behind making two good groups, instead of one monster group is piss poor on YG's part anyways and I've expressed this multiple times. Both Winner and iKON lack something that sets them next to Big Bang, and no matter what people do they will always be compared to Big Bang so that is my problem with them. Other people feel different, ya'll can have that opinion, but I'm sticking to mine and until either of them puts out something that stuns me I'll continue to believe that YG messed up and should have just made a power group and trimmed the fat.

I've seen a couple other people mention that all three girls sounded like they had some kind of influence from CL, which again I don't think is entirely bad. I think it's pretty understandable to look up to a sunbae and want to be like them, and I believe as they continue to grow as individual artists that they will take on their own sound. It's not a bad thing to be like CL, especially at debut, it's just interesting that they seem to follow that style.

I disagree on the Minzy vs Lisa point, and I don't think there's near enough footage of Lisa to even start to make that fight between them.

The 2ne1 vs Black Pink comparisons though I pretty much completely agree with you on. The landscape is different, there's no way Black Pink could have pulled what 2ne1 did, it's impossible, but what they DID do is still incredible. 2ne1 were trailblazers at their time, no one was like them, and they inspired a whole wave of girl groups. Black Pink didn't get the chance to do that, but if they had debuted at the time 2ne1 did could they have? Who knows, we'll never know but we can appreciate what the girls accomplished for sure regardless.

Boomyayah is compared to fire because fire is upbeat, and boom is upbeat and that's where the comparisons come from. Boom is also the one that was promoted the heaviest imo so that's where the comparison comes from. There's no denying they debuted with two songs obviously, but Fire and Boom will be compared because of the similar uptempo vibe, and the similar Teddy feel.

I completely disagree with you and your opinion on iKON and Winner especially vocal talent wise but it's pointless to go into it anymore since we won't see eye to eye.

I agree with you with the BLACKPINK stuff for the most apart from Minzy being a better dancer and Boombayah being heavily promoted????? Boombayah wil be promoted the same as Whistle both are debut songs and we might even get more Whistle seeing how SK clearly preferred that song more to the other.

I said Boombayah /was/ heavily promoted. It was the song that we knew was coming, I would say it was the more hyped song of their debut, it also contains the line that is written all over their advertisements. It's also the more upbeat of the two which is why it gets compared to Fire. Now that both songs are out and we're moving forward, I wouldn't be surprised if they focused more on Whistle because it appears to be more accepted by the public.

A dance practice is no way to judge someone though, I can't get on board with this idea of judging a group's charisma without a couple live performances.

What I find annoying is people already judging their stage charisma and talent when we've only seen two mvs and a couple teaser. Nothing else.

Let them have a debut stage then we'll talk about it. Can't be any worse than some of 2NE1 live perfs.

Thank you all so much for listening! It means a lot to us that there are regularly even over 100 listens and we get pretty good feed back from the community. We'll keep trying to improve the show, I think the next drive will be to really push the show down in time. I'd reaaaally like to keep the shows at about an hour, it's going to take time though so just bare with us!
