I think it's kinda different with BP since they didn't have any tv appearances before debut, ikon had both a group tv show and didn't one of them won another tv show before debut? I might be wrong since I don't follow them, but imo both debuts successes are a different kind.
Even counting the hype they had before debut and the fact they're from a big company like YG, which really helps, this is really impressive and should be looked on it's own

Whoooo congrats! The Youtube views + iTunes sales are impressive too. I knew there was hype surrounding their debut but this is exceeding what I was expecting.

Same. But I think I get it, I find myself listening to Whistle a lot more. It's got a catchy hook and a "chill" vibe, so it's easy to have it on repeat. And while Boombaya is fun, it's kind of exhausting.. haha

I'm excited for this group. I think they have huge potential and aren't just pretty visuals like some people feared they would be. Their debut songs weren't perfected and arguably weren't quite as strong as 2NE1's but the game has changed a lot since then so it was never going go have the same impact. They just need time to find a sound which is all their own and shake off the "2NE1 replacement tag" and they'll be fine.

I hope YG lets them go on variety shows because they all seem cute and i think it would benefit their image.

happy for their success and all, but can't help thinking of groups with better songs that never see this level of success. then again, you can't blame YG for doing their job well or the girls for getting the spotlight. no matter how frustrating it is, YG knows how to play the game.
