GFriend now holds the record for most award show wins in a year (for a girl group)

GFriend continues setting records as they become the girl group with the highest number of Music Show win trophies within the same year.

On the July 31st broadcast of SBS Inkigayo, GFriend won the July fourth week's trophy being their eighth music show win (for Navillera). They also showed their growing popularity as they were able to win that day even though they were not able to perform live as they flew to Los Angeles, California for KCON.

GFriend stated "We are very much thankful to all Buddies who've given us so much love. We are so happy and thankful when we received the news that we won on Inkigayo. We also want to personally give thanks all the fans who've supported and listened to Navillera."



With Navillera winning eighth trophies it is hereby announced that GFriend is the new record- as the girl group with the most wins this year 2016. Specially when they snatched a total of 15 trophies for their title song Rough this year as well. Adding these up, GFriend holds a record of a total of 23 music show wins in just seven months.

GFriend set a new record with this achievement as the previous record-holder is Girl's Generation with a total of 22 wins in the year 2010. Following them is APink with a total of 21 wins in the year 2014 and Girl's Generation again with a total of 21 wins in the year 2015.

It's weird how every time I think this is the last Gfriend song I'll like/the next one can't possibly be as catchy, they come along with another. Navillera's gone and got stuck in my head now, and I have my fingers crossed for their next comeback - four strong singles in a row is a better run than most girl groups do, especially rookies.

I can't believe how far they've come - who'd have thought a rookie girl group from an unknown agency would do so well that they're actually getting mentioned in the same breath as girl groups from much bigger, more powerful agencies? Def. did not think this while watching Glass Bead for the first time.
