Solo Debut Generation: Yoona to Release Chinese Mini + Yuri's Solo Scheduled for Next Year!

XiaMi Music, a popular Chinese music streaming site, has announced through its Weibo account that Yoona will soon be revealing her first Chinese mini-album. This digital release is scheduled for midnight KST on August 1st; the mini-album will be available through XiaMi Music, accessible only in some countries, and Alibaba Planet, a Chinese music app that can be downloaded on both iOS and Android smartphones.

This upcoming digital mini-album follows Yoona’s March “STATION” track, “Deoksugung Stonewall Walkway”, featuring 10cm. Yoona’s other recent activities in China include appearances on several variety shows, as well as her starring role in the 60-episode period drama, “God of War Zhao Yun“.

I'm forever in awe over how amazing Yoona's branding is and how she always remains on top no matter what, no matter the trends and other popular girls that come and go, it only shows haters and non-believers that she is in the long run no matter what.

The so called negative comments are nothing, but of course she needs a team, every artist that has a brand needs one no matter how big they are. Suzy may be huge in Korea, as she achieved a status that no other idol had, but her overseas pull is not as big, or big tbh, as it could be especially when it comes to a star of her status in Korea. And even in Korea she's poorly managed.

Sooyoung has a good amount of stage presence. She always catches my eye in performances. All she needs is some vocal training and she'd be a competent vocalist because I think she has a decent enough range.

Their contracts are expiring next year, I think. So they're probably trying to cash all they can in bc I doubt all the girls will resign. If they do, that would be a christmas miracle.

i think one of the SHY girls said it's never going to happen at a concert or smth once? tbh even tho i have been a fan for years, i don't really care for a SHY subunit... i guess it's maybe because i never really was into the SHY girls to begin with. idk i just don't know how feasible it'd be, bc if they did go for it, who would do vocals?

and on the promotion note, sm would be super slack /if/ it did even happen :/ i mean tiffany and taeyeon's why solos were messy

The only reason why I thought Taeyeon's last solo was messy was bec of it coinciding with her concert which is why she barely promoted on music shows.

By quality of Taeny's solos I meant music-wise! I understand the promos for their solos were a little.. weird to say the least but personally I just think they timed their debut/comebacks really bad.

That SHY subunit would've been doable if they did hard EDM/dance/a genre were their voices wouldn't be the main highlight of the song. SM has been in an EDM phase anyway so.. it would've been good timing. Plus they could've made their debut in a way that their promos would be more variety guestings which the three really excel at. Hyoyeon is actually a good singer (case in point their YHY performance of Goodbye) so she could probably pull off main vocals but since it's confirmed that it's never happening.. sigh.

(Also I think they confirmed it never happening in.. I think Weekly Idol? But they said it in one of their variety show guestings back while they were promoting LionHeart. I'm a fan of SHY in variety cuz they're always the funniest)

i think yoona's voice is nice. the solo will probably be very coffee shop, which probably suits her best anyway. i doubt she'll go for a dance track, but who knows.

yuri's voice can be alright, her lines in lionheart were decent so i think the recording will be fine. live performances are another story though lmao.

idk she never really seemed like she would have been comfortable by herself on stage, you saw how long it took tiffany and taeyeon to get used to it + she always seemed like a team player/more used to being in a group (or she's not as confident in her singing, but i love her voice)
