they look so good in casual clothes. ty and jaehyun especially. ty has a great sense of style. 7th sense spoiled me in terms of choreo, and i see that testa likes reusing some moves. i've never been a huge fan of testa but this is one of his better creations. more dance practice videos pls, sm!
ummmm also i know i'm really late to the party, but i've become addicted to vocal line's voices, especially taeil's and doyoung's. i've had their live performances on repeat all week. it's ridiculous bc i'm not a huge fan of k-ballads but their voices hit me like a drug........ tende, lost in love, winter rose, lately, because of you, 너에게, doyoung/jihyo, shoulda woulda coulda, doyoung's predebut stuff. is there anything else i should be listening to? i need MORE.
So amazing, omg. t_t The simple clothes also help in appreciating the choreo without being distracted by shiny pants and the like, haha. (though I do like their stage styling.. xD) Particularly enjoying winwin's outfit here~
There is so much going on in the chereo that I couldn't see or focus on during music shows and they are all so on point. Gonna be watching this over and over~ ♡ ♡ ♡
the sync is def impressive. im especialy in awe of them having the arm swinging they do from 1:02 to sync up. timing is difficult for those types of movements
ugh im in the library and i don't have my earphones so i have to watch this without sound gdi. but this is fire! pun intended. this choreo is really fun and charming. definitely different vibe from t7s. which is undestandable since this is sposed to be a fun stress relieving summer song according to sm's ott descriptions.
love how taeyong assumes some of his positions. like at 0:20 and 0:23 and 2:54. really smooth. idk i feel like sometimes he puts these tiny personal spins on some of his moves depending on his mood and i love that about his dancing. the choreo for his parts are my favorite. though it covers a lot of ground and has a lot of the main dance points so it must be tiring. actually this dance seems really exhausting as a whole specially with those folks having to pick up the lifts and the flip winwin does. but it's tony testa. what was i expecting
im really impressed; they did a great job. great syncing specially with how taeil is the supposed weak dancer too. i'm so proud of him
I love Taeyong's little touches of creativity and personality in his dancing! My favorite instance is from the music video of T7S when they have their backs to the camera and then turn. Taeyong does this subtle wave as he comes down from his toes, then gives his head this extra little twist as he turns to face the camera. His delivery made such a difference in the move.
oh yeahh are you talking about this part? I really like how he did that too. really subtle especially with the boxy clothes he has on but i can make out that wave action going on in his shoulders then chest. and then it moving down to his feet. eta: actually i love how you can see their individual styles come through when they do that turn around. eta 2 like ten's movement is sorta quick/agile and flippant, while taeyong's is sorta deliberate and weighty
love that detail as well. that choreo was just filled with beautiful subtle body wave action. like not in the typical gratituitous sexual way either but in the more idk..."artistic" way. but its effect was still sensual in its own right
im bummed SM didnt give us a dance practice video for that one
Yes, this part! I replay this part often just to watch him. I love that he started to dance at an older age relative to most other main/lead dancers but has the confidence and creativity to add his personal flair to certain moves. And now that you've pointed it out, I really like the contrast between Taeyong's and Ten's styles here! Ten's turn is crisp while Taeyong's is purposeful.
The lack of a dance practice video for T7S is criminal, and I'm more upset about it now that we've seen how amazing the Fire Truck one is. But I'm really happy that they've shown two very different dance styles with T7S and Fire Truck. T7S choreo is one of my all-time favorites, the technicality and subtle sensuality came together so well and went with the feel of the song perfectly. Tony Testa is hit or miss for me, but I love what he did with Fire Truck. I think a big part of that has to do with how well the members pulled it off. The choreo is big and flashy and frenetic and could easily come across as messy and disorganized, but it doesn't because of how clean and synchronized they are.
In general I'm not a fan of Testa stylistically. As you said he tends towards flashy and also acrobatic and overly literal. But for this particular song his style fits perfectly. It's a song called "Fire Truck". Where they go "woot woot" and "come on party people". Subtlety and grace out the door. There's no need for it. The only problem is that a lot of the members can't sing/rap worth a damn live while doing it. Which is another pitfall of Testa's style it seems. To be fair, for this song he made leeway for the vocal line, but for Taeyong and Jaehyun they really struggle to hold stable vocals while doing their dance. Specially Taeyong during his beginning solo.
Ten in general is a more consistent, versatile, and expressive dancer, but I always find my eyes drawn to Taeyong just cause I enjoy his style. Ten definitely has better execution at times save for some parts of The 7th Sense here and there, but Taeyong has a great presence and dare say charisma. Kpop has made me despise that word but there's nothing else that comes to mind.
Best rookies of the year imo, no competition so far (and with YG's "hustle", that includes BLACKPINK) Choreos like these are the reason I became a kpop fan in the first place *O* And even though their songs aren't exactly my type, they somehow manage to creep into my head, and next thing I know I'm jamming to all their stuff Love what SM are doing with their sound and choreos now, crossing fingers for f(x) comeback to be the same kind of epic!
