I went to Japantown in SF last weekend and there was an anime convention going on! Me and my friends took pics in this place called pika pika which has Japanese photo sticker booths. It was so fun! I might go again tomorrow to see some Korean beauty products so we might take pics again, lol.

i need recs for apps or anything else that might help, it would be nice if there is something similar to duolingo that provides lessons and quizzes. i know hangul very well already so i prefer something that focuses more on vocab & grammar :)

I've started using EggBun out of curiosity the other day. It seems good but idk. I'm very new to it and have 0 knowledge of Korean so can't really say. You could give it a try tho.

Someone on here recommended the app HelloTalk and it's really awesome! You basically get a anguage exchange partner and the app has these features where it will translate stuff they message you if you don't understand it also the people there are pretty nice and willing to help you. Also you can voice chat if you want to practice pronunciation.

I haven't used either of these yet but someone recommended Rieul Korean and Korlink to me. Rieul Korean is apparently good for learning vocabulary and you can test yourself on vocab/conjugation/pronunciation.
Korlink is for following the Talk to Me in Korean website's lessons so there's plenty of different content you can use to learn.

Sorry I haven't personally used them (I'm still getting around to learning hangul...) but they're both free so could be worth a try :)

if you're one of the few people on earth who live close to a korean cultural centre, remember to drop by. god i miss the days of free korean classes (from good teachers!!) and the library when i lived close to one.

I use TTMIK, I also have all three Korean Grammar in Use books (I bought them in Korea but I'm sure there are PDFs going around because they're really good), KoreanClass101 on YouTube is good for listening practice, sweetandtasty on youtube is good for beginner vocab and stuff. Also finding a language partner who is patient and doesn't mind that you're a beginner (they really do exist!) The most important thing besides studying vocab and grammar a lot is actually using what you're learning. I always get so surprised when I listen to songs or watch variety shows and I hear words/grammar stuff that I learned and it's like duh!! You learned it because people actually use it!

I'm still learning; but http://talktomeinkorean.com/ has been a huge help. Only downside is that you have to pay for the courses although there are free lessons as well. The courses are not expensive at all though, 10 dollars each although, on the flipside, they have 9 ebooks so far.

It was recommended by a friend who used this as well and she's failry good by now, it took her the good part of a year to learn but she assures it's worth every penny. The best part imo, is that you get Koreans to teach you, and you can make some good friends or acquaintances through the page; people who will talk to you in exchange for conversations in the language they want to learn.

It's a bit of a gray area because I can't imagine them ever participating in SK entertainment again. As far as I understand, they'll continue as Chinese idols in the Chinese entertainment industry -- their contractual connections to SM are just incidental.

My k-pop fanning has been so lacking. Been obsessed with writing ridiculous romance novel. I haven't listened to anything new except the stuff I know I'll like (otherwise known as I am a wretched SMTOWNer).

Any suggestions for new stuff? As a general rule I like Seventeen and don't like Bangtan, and I like Oh My Girl and don't like Lovelyz. I like basically all of the main acts under SM and own most of their albums. XD I like a lot of other stuff too but that's the simplest guide I can come up with without spending an hour compiling my Korean music history.

I don't usually ever post in Omona FFAs even tho I lurk visit Omona regularly, idk why *shrugs* so I decided to do that now.

Just came back from a fair where I was selling some artwork I'd made. The earnings weren't as good as last year but still enough for it to not have been a waste of time. This was the 2nd time I'd been to this fair and this time I'll write down what people have been saying they want to see and then for next year I'll make that kind of stuff so people are more interested in buying lol.
