GFRIEND held a showcase for the release of their first album “LOL” on the afternoon of July 11, where they talked about how they feel about their new song’s success.

GFRIEND’s title track, “Navillera,” which was released midnight July 11, has topped seven music charts upon its release. GFRIEND’s “Rough,” which was released in January of this year, landed the no. 1 spot on Gaon’s 2016 first half review of the digital top 100.



Yuju said, “We can’t believe it. It seems surreal for all of us.” Sinbi also said, “Our style is power and purity. It feels good to hear people say that we’ve come into our musical color.”

When asked if they’ve ever thought that they’re changing the order of girl groups, GFRIEND said, “We haven’t once thought that we’re changing the order of girl groups. This is just a step on the way up.”

“Navillera,” which is of a similar feel to “Rough,” and in keeping with the group’s signature upbeat sound, is the group’s fourth straight hit since debut, following “Glass Bead,” “Me Gustas Tu,” and “Rough.”

- They talked about how they're trying some diverse genres on their album, like reggae (Distance) and rock (Water Flower)
- Sowon's favourite song is 'Mermaid', Eunha's is 'Fall in Love' and Yuju's is 'Gone with the Wind' (apparently because it's the hardest to perform, lmaooo)
- Speaking of which, they performed GwtW and the choreo is really lovely and smooth!
- Rollerskating was really difficult; they practiced a lot in their practice room but doing it outside was a lot harder than they thought it would be
- Yuju filmed some of the videos from the MV!
- NAVILLERA'S CHOREO IS GREAT, omg the intro is so fun and it feels a bit more grown-up in parts, I think? I'll be interested to read everyone's thoughts once they perform on a music show! NVM FOUND IT

I feel like I'm alone on these reading comments from other posts but I like 'Navillera' and 'Glass Bead' more than 'Rough' and 'Me Gustas Tu'. I guess I have shitty taste lol

And also I don't get why people get so defensive when someone says their songs are the same. I personally do think all their songs (title songs) are really similar, with the same concept and basically variations of the same type of choreography, but I don't see nothing wrong with it. It's what the girls are good at and what it's working for them, so why change it?

I mean, Rough won 15 trophies and is the most DL'd song of the year - there's a good reason their company isn't changing their sound.

Also at the showcase, Umji mentioned the recent bullying rumors (it was about SinB bullying her) and she said that there isn't any bullying and that she and SinB are really close. She said that sometimes when people are super close, their friendship isn't too obvious and that the video was devil's/malicious editing. She also said that she wasn't hurt by the video and that she and SinB laughed about it.

My poor bbs ㅠ.ㅠ People need to leave Umji alone.
