can someone explain to me the thing about NCT U being the "anchor group"? i've heard that they're supposedly the only fixed group and have the most talented members? is that actually official or is it just speculation?

SM said NCT U stands for NCT Unit. As in it's the representative unit that, well, represents the rest of the units. So every subunit will have one or more NCT U members in it.

I hope these subunits get normal promotional cycles since then for the more "overlooked" members it'd just like part of a typical boy group.

But if that happens that probably means the NCT U boys are gonna be overworked to death. I've seen snippets of the choreo for their new track and the choreo looks physically demanding (those seconds I've seen anyway) so I'm concerned, especially given their packed schedule and how some of these members overlap with other subunits...

Fucking SM using these people as guinea pigs for their experimental globalization project. I'd be pissed if I were these boys

speculation, mostly bc of them being addressed as the model unit for the nct project but for what we know nct 127 could very well be the alpha or the alpha could debut later. i don't think sm specifically named them as it, yet. but yes nct u does have the most talented members (vocalists and rappers) though donghyuck and kun are also main vocalist material for the units they'll be in.

mte, i liked AKB48 when they first started but i couldnt keep up with them. Tbh, i dont think kpop fans are able to stan rotation group like jpop fans do. I mean SM wanted to SUJU as rotation group at the beginning and they cant bcos of the fans protesting.
