YG Reportedly Preparing Another Girl Group For Debut

Following the reveal of their new girl group Black Pink, YG Entertainment has revealed potential plans to debut another girl group soon.

A representative from YG spoke with news outlet OSEN and said, “We originally planned for a total of nine members, but Yang Hyun Suk changed plans two years ago to debut four members first. It’s not possible to know Yang Hyun Suk’s thoughts precisely, but the remaining five trainees are still with YG and the company atmosphere is that Black Pink is the advance party (group sent ahead).”

Some are anticipating that the debuts of the two girl groups will be similar to the debuts of WINNER and iKON.

that's a good angle. i'm glad it was brought up. because besides fandom drama i actually feel bad for trainees being put into this position. and i mean we all know yg can't manage two groups so obviously one is going to go down just like 7th comment mentioned. actually... yg can't even handle one group in general without sabotaging the rest.

Winner and IKon didn't work because YG keeps putting the two groups against each other and polarizing the fandoms. This would have been really different if WIN didn't happen.

If these girls are marketed as sister groups like One Day,debut-era EXO, or whatever NCT are supposed to be this idea won't be so bad.

I mean you do know for example that vips take care of basically everything having to do with their solo work. YG only cares if it's Big Bang /together/ and even then they struggle. In the movie they made for their anniversary , you see GD collapsing between songs during the concert because he was so exhausted. Yet YG signs off on another fan meet in China every other day (and half of the fan meet is a concert). If that doesn't tell you anything...

lol i know he doesn't do perfectly with BB. but that's the only group of his that is actually a success. and this makes the whole idea of doing sister groups concept even worse. and we've seen this already between ikon and winner. bc i've read some ikon stans complaining that ikon are overworked. and on the other hand winner stays at the basement for majority of their career so far. he can't get it right.

Well if he still has all those other girls who were going to be in pink punk (i liked that name) i guess this makes sense,  and maybe move up any older girls from future 2ne1 (i know people keep insist on sua not being in this group but evidently plans have changed at yg and she's a 99-liner aka prime maknae age).

It's totally the optimist in me but I don't think is such a bad idea, lol. If the girls were ready to debut now and he picked the strongest four for black pink that means the rest are probably going to be more than ready in the future. & I think as long as he doesn't make it seem like their up to each other fans won't be at each other throats, while winner and ikon have been competing against each other since the beginning. like obvs fans are going to be competitive but I don't think to that extreme.

MAYBE by the then YG will know how to mange his groups, who knows though lol :p

That's a crappy idea. Winner is already suffering from this crappy idea so why would you repeat the same crappy idea. They would technically be competing against and minimize the popularity of the other group. Just focus on one group. That's how groups like 2NE1 and Big Bang made it big. They got consistent focus. Inconsistent focus doesn't work. "Whole ass one thing. Don't half ass two."

Also Korea does love big girl groups from big 3 as Twice wouldn't be anywhere near as popular they are if they had less of members. Just compare Twice's popularity to Red Velvet's.

I feel like YG is trying so hard to drum up healthy competition between WinKon, but in turn he may end up souring the relationships between them. The fandoms are already there. I'd rather this not happen with the girls.
