it's a pretty good mini overall! it's fun, i like it and i'm glad that she felt comfortable enough to extend out from the sound that her first mini had. it's always nice to see that.

i'm still trying to place what my faves are. i do like all of them though. it doesn't happen always but "why" was def the best choice for a title, imo, if you don't take "starlight" into consideration. (which is surprising considering how the ~public is with edm and all.) there's bits and pieces in "up & down" that give me the same theatrical vibe that shinee's "woof woof" did which i'm always here for. it's kitschy but cute. "night" reminds me of something that jonghyun would put out which i'm totally fine with, lol.

In all honesty, nothing has really grabbed me on first listen. Starlight is still lovely but the others idk. I find it absolutely grating when they make Hyoyeon do raps were she just talks at super highspeed.... Perhaps this mini is a grower.

I just skimmed through this album, somehow I feel "I" is more easy-listening compared to this EP? Maybe because I'm sooooo used to Taeyeon x Ballads. I might have to relisten to them again to judge though !

Hopefully this album will grow on me. cause I'm sure it would. For now aside from Why and Starlight I really really like Good Thing at first listen !

THE POST I NEEDED IN MY LIFE!!!!!

I'm so surprised that there were NO BALLADS in a Taeyeon mini like U R was such a big hit in her last one I was pretty sure SM would at least have one ballad in Why. But the closest one, Night was SO GOOD.

My faves were Fashion, Good Thing, and Night. Good Thing had me SCREAMING when the sax popped in midway of the song. I'm so glad I preordered this album literally no regrets?????

Anyway I'm a little bit wary at how Taeyeon is doing at the charts rn. It's not released in monkey3 yet but wow it's #4 in Soribada because of SMTM and Beast and.. Starlight lol and it's #2 on Bugs. But at least it's #1 everywhere else.

Also Korea thinks Fashion is the next best track!!! Little mad that Good Thing is the least appreciated tho >:(

re: the charts. they're always such a mess during early hours of the day. (fandom streaming is highest; especially with international fans / groups like exo, etc.) i think we'll get a more solid view of how it's going to do within the next few hours. i think her biggest comp is going to come tomorrow when zion.t releases his two new tracks.

I hope so!! Does YT views count for anything on the icharts? I just remembered how big Zion.T is generally in Korea so now I'm fearing it might hinder her possibly getting an allkill. I've been checking the charts and so far everything is #1 (not on monkey3 tho cuz for some reason she's not there yet??) but her melon ranking just went down :

Where I only really liked 2 songs from her last mini (since it basically sounded like ballad after ballad and so on) this one is really hitting a home-run for me. A more summer/R&B sound and she is slaying it, I love the EDM influences in some songs!

Up & Down sounded wrong in some parts like it wasn't mixed correctly? I am loving Why (though I wish the beat dropped sooner) Fashion, Good Thing and Up & Down <3

up and down starts out so well and then hyoyeon's rap kills it lol i'll get used to it bc i love the rest (they could put on a fun burlesque-ish performance to it). night is def my favourite, it's smooth and sexy, with fashion and good thing second. starlight has also grown on me. the whole album is great for the summer

WHY is so addictive, I can definitely see why they choose it as title track. Good Thing and Hands on Me are amazing.

I don't think it's fair to compare to the first mini, they're both very different, it's like comparing SNSD's first album to The Boys.

Fashion, Why, Good Thing, & Night are the ones I know I'll listen to over again.

Hands on Me sounded a bit like Cheryl Cole singing until the Korean started.

I've listened to Up & Down 4 times in an attempt to like it, but it's just really weird to me. I'm disappointed, Hyoyeon's my fave. :(

This is such an upbeat album. Perfect for the summer.
I can see why "why" is the titletrack. It's by far the most suitable and personally my fav.
I love all the tracks minus up& down. I had high expectations, but the song did nothing for me. Not even hyo (bias) could make me like it…

I'm disappointed there was not a single ballad. I understand it's a summer album, but I miss that one ballad that completes this album. (UR from I was my fav)

I can see myself jamming to this album for the summer.

i love it!! i was a little sad when i found out there was going to be no ballads but everything on here is so my style. i'd like anything she'd point out though, if i'm being honest. after listening to this album on loop since release i've decided my fave songs are good thing and hands on me.

Hands on Me sounds like a song from Cytus. Most of the song aren't that memorable for me. Starlight is nice to listen at but it gets boring after a few replays.
'I' is the superior album tbh. This album doesn't sound like Taeyeon at all.

I'm not a Taeyeon or GG fan, but I liked this album at first listen! While I found the first album monotonous and a bit boring (I tried to give it a chance, listened to it about 3-4 times but only ended up liking 1 or 2 songs. Not a fan of one too many ballads, I guess), I'd venture that I'll end up listening to this album a lot. :)
