News and Interviews

Like clockwork, Sistar is back with their seasonal banger.
The quartet returned on Tuesday (June 21) with “I Like That,” their first song of 2016 and the latest in a bevy of addictive summer releases by the group over the past six years. Turning away from the more upbeat sound they’ve recently favored, Sistar heats things up on this electro-brass track that is their most impassioned song yet.
While darker than other recent hits, “I Like That” takes Sistar out of the cheerful pop sound they’ve become pidgenholed in following hits like “Shake It” last year and “Touch My Body” the year before that. (The latter got a shout out on Family Guy earlier this year.) Not any less catchy, “I Like That” is a sassy return to their sultry sound last seen in 2013’s “Give It To Me”.
Never ones to shy away from the sax and synths, “I Like That” turns away from bubblegum with a steady bassline and guitar riffs that steadily build. The song’s alternating tempo draws on Sistar’s dual image as one of K-pop's sexiest and most playful groups: the mournful solos and back-and-forth belts counter the hook-filled chorus and clapping chant.
The title and lyrics seem to refer to a woman liking someone who can’t stay loyal to her, and the accompanying retro-tinged music video perfects the group’s ability to match their style with their performances as they sing about the mixed emotions. The sets and cinematography are ethereal and dramatic while the four women are portrayed as vulnerable and empowered. Their dance is Sistar’s most powerful in years, with the finale featuring the scorned women throwing in the towel (or gauze) and abandoning the relationship.
“I Like That” was released on June 21 and appears on the group’s fourth EP, Insane Love. Also featured is “Say I Love You,” the first song composed entirely by member Hyolyn for a Sistar album.

On June 21, girl group SISTAR held a showcase for their new mini album, “Insane Love,” at the Yes24 Live Hall in Seoul. Hyorin reveals that she wrote and composed the track “Say I Love You” while thinking of the other members.
She adds while laughing, “The members helped a lot. Personally I wish that this song will do the best on music charts.”
Fellow member Dasom jokingly comments, “In the past Hyorin unni wrote songs that were not profitable, but now she writes songs that appeal to the masses.”
SISTAR has made a comeback after a full year. The music video for “I Like That” reached 1 million views within 12 hours of its release and continues to increase.

On June 21, SISTAR held a media showcase for the release of their newest mini album, “Insane Love.”
During the showcase, member Bora is asked if there are any broadcasts she will like to guest on.
She answers, “While filming a different show, I happened to meet Kim Jong Kook, who said to me, ‘You should appear on ‘Running Man’ [again].’ I’ve appeared on ‘Running Man’ before, but I really want to appear as a whole group, since the four of us have never guested on the show together.”
Dasom also says, “We filmed a reality show called ‘Showtime’ before, and I have a lot of good memories from that program. I really want to go on a vacation with my members, or film another reality program together.”
Meanwhile, SISTAR recently released their fourth mini album “Insane Love,” and its title track, “I Like That.”

On June 20, Naver’s V App broadcasted the live countdown to girl group SISTAR’s new album “I Like That.” Member Dasom reveals that she makes her “most revealing skin exposure” through their new song.
During their conversation about their title track, Bora comments, “Our maknae (Dasom) started being a rebel through this music video.”
Dasom adds, “This was the most amount of skin I’ve exposed after debuting with SISTAR.” Her comment increased curiosity for the new music video.
Bora and Hyorin also state, “It suited her well,” “It wasn’t an overly sexual – it was really pretty. It made us want to protect her.
