i've come to love everyone in this group:') even taeyong who i was determined to hate bc of the things i've heard managed to warm up my cold heart. it's vids like these that does that for me. if i hadn't watched their nct life series and follwed it up with their interviews, i would've continued thinking they were just a rebirth of exo whose personalities don't appeal to me at all.

it's a shame and sometimes disturbing how people can so easily dehumanize others and treat them as trash, even more so if you're a celebrity - you do something wrong and suddenly you're worthless. they're heavily judged by mistakes everyone commits (of course i'm not including actual horrific crimes in this). it would be more productive if instead of callouts and insults people tried to reach out and educate them.
anyways! i'm sure taeyong has learned his lesson, and i'm looking forward to see him showing his talents again through new songs and performances.

Yes, this happens to so many idols. This dehumanization. It's so easy for people to completely trash an idol cause they only care to see them as an object or single-faceted character, especially for female idols. Just look at Seolhyun. They only saw her as a sexual object and as someone who's purpose is being attractive. Not as an individual who has her own personality quirks, who likes taking care of her friends, who likes to snort whenever she laughs. That's why it was so easy for them to totally tear her down when she made the mistake about An Jung Geun. It was a mistake, and she was obviously beating herself up over it and willing to change and learn but the netizens didn't care. Now instead of being defined by her looks, she was defined by her mistake and the hard-headed netizens don't give a rats ass about forgiveness. I'd like to see if they'd react the same if their own children or siblings, etc, made the same mistake only to be pulled through coals by others and not given a chance to redeem themselves. /rant

It's the same mechanism at work when your friend vents to you about her SO whenever they have an argument and then you hate their guts and tell your friend to break up with the SO only to actually see they're a great person when you actually meet irl. cause you got a single-sided and cherry picked view of them whenever your friend vented.
