You may know G Dragon for setting trends by wearing edgy designers like Vetements, Fear Of God, Raf Simons, Undercover etc but did you know that his favorite trend is wearing Black people's cultures and hairstyles like a costume?

Yes, he's done it again! This time by wearing a braids wig! Sure, in the grand scheme of G Dragon's relentless anti-Blackness and disrespect for other cultures (remember when he subtly incited anti-Japanese sentiment by blaming a Japanese fan for giving him weed?) this is minor!
Maybe it's just me though, but if you have a history of being called out for anti-Blackness and appropriation maybe you would try to avoid doing things that might be disresprectful to Black people.
Unless of course...you don't respect Black people and know that anti-Blackness is the easiest way for your boring self to be considered edgy without getting in major trouble 🌚☕

Since GD is obviously proud of his actions and refuses to stop (even though it hurts some Black fans, or maybe even precisely because of this), let's look back on some of G Dragon's greatest racist hits aka an excuse for me to make it clear that he is not 'just ignorant', this is habitual line stepping, GD knows what he's doing.

This along with him deliberately trying to make Korean words sound like the N-word (Bae Bae is a recent example), repeatedly conflating Blackness and hip-hop with violence, danger and criminality, constantly appropriating Black culture, style and music including straight up just stealing it, (pretty much all of his solo work) among many other things shows that G Dragon has a problem with Black people. There is no doubt that for all the Black art he claims to love and Black people he has on staff, G Dragon is anti-Black and proud of it.

What's really bad about him doing this is so many idols look up to him like to me the current trend of black hairstyles on idols started with BigBang. Sure khiphop guys have been doing it before them but all the idols that I can think of who are problematic "BTS, block b" all look up to BigBang. So sick of gd and I use to be a huge fan during his heartbreaker days but now he's the iggy/Miley Cyrus/Justin beiber of Kpop. This stuff doesn't offended me its just irritating to see that groups like BigBang who are some of the most successful in Kpop and thought of as original when all they do cultural appropriate black cultures. The fact that YG always criticize other idols and tries to uplift his idols as unique for doing what black people have been doing for years makes it that much worse. No GD is not unique or different cuz he's wearing effing beads in his head. And nope GD doesn't care despite being called on it. YG idols in general are a bunch of hypocrites.

Him with the little kids is ugh. Wearing the clips and beads in his hair is so disgusting, I don't know why. Just the idea of taking something that we as little kids grew up doing... I remember my aunts and cousins braiding up my hair and putting in beads, I don't live in the same country as them so that is like a one-time memory, and then you have this guy turn it into a "GD fashion statement". What is he doing and why, it's even more offensive because it's not even his hair, I mean at least the other appropriator took the time to grow out their hair just so they could appropriate, he puts on a wig literally like a costume.

I don't follow BB that much, but I remember when one of them made a instagram update and fans started to saying in the comments section that it was black face and they should delete it, they did and they apologized. That sounds like what happened with Taeyang and the kanye faceswap "year of the monkey" scandal. I can't remember a single time GD has gotten off his throne of appropriation to apologize for the things he's done and he's the only other guy I can think of off hand that had a black-face scandal.

Big Bang and YG in general are pretty problematic, when it comes to black culture they are for sure the most problematic idol label. (some of those hiphop labels make YG look pretty pristine unfortunately) I wish they cared more, because I love a lot of older YG music, and some of them do seem to care, but GD isn't one of them and pretty much never has been haha. This is a really wanky post, but it's pretty accurate.

Taeyang appears to be pretty conscious of some of his mistakes, but he's fucked up a ton, and hasn't apologized for all of it or changed so it's pretty clear that they remain willfully ignorant.
