I loved the Hurricane Venus album, but her blonde hair and general look were not to my liking.
Taeyeon's vocals were quality, though that's not surprising. I don't like the arrangement of the song itself, though. Probably because I'm so fond of the OG. My fave Atlantis Princess cover remains the one they did on that TV show with the little girl singing. So cute.
Same same Hurricane Venus was one of my fave Korean albums from her and it also had my ultimate favorite BoA ballads (Don't Know What to Say and Implode) but when she paired blonde hair with intense makeup.. :(
Atlantis Princess is the song that actually got me into Kpop, also my first Kpop album and I still hold it deep in my heart so nothing, even Taeyeon, who's my fave now, can topple that. Also I feel like this arrangement barely had any buildup or story.
Don't Know What To Say is one of my all time faves. It might have been THE all time fave before Only One came and claimed my life, which I gave willingly.
I think Atlantis Princess was the first k-pop album I got, too! Though it def. was not my 'gateway' song.
Ahhhh. I love this song and I enjoy Taeyeon's voice so I was kinda worried about expecting too much, lol. But it totally meets my expectations! There are a few changes - the instrumental, how Taeyeon sings it - so it's not simply "copy & paste" (hehe). Idk if I make sense, but Boa's original song feels young/exciting while this one feels more dreamy/gentle.s/slow? I like it anyway. Now I wish they would do a duet!
That gif is screaming at my heart rn. My two faves in one gif! Need a duet ASAP tho.
Okay I love Taeyeon and I will buy every song she releases but this cover is a pass for me. Her vocals are on point as per, but I just feel like this arrangement doesn't speak to me. Barely has a buildup, not telling of anything and is just pm flat the entire time save for some rests. There's also some jarring warbling around the 3:50 mark that is just putting me off.....
But that can be just me because Atlantis Princess is my ultimate and first Kpop song, and therefore toppling it would be hard to do.
