Former Jewelry Member Ha Joo Yeon Sheds Tears During “Show Me The Money 5″ Auditions

Ha Joo Yeon, formerly known as Baby J of Jewelry, sheds tears on “Show Me The Money 5,” where she unfortunately faces elimination.

During the interview, the singer recounts, “Jewelry did great when we debuted. Then the older members left and the group disbanded.”



She shares that it has been almost two years since she was on camera. She continues, “After the disbandment, I had no income so I did part-time jobs in a pizza shop and a clothes store. When I see my friends being active in the entertainment industry, I would feel frustrated and cry. I cried alone at home a lot.“

Ha Joo Yeon adds, “‘Show Me The Money 5′ to me is a desperate need.” Her father, actor Ha Jae Young, also appears on the episode to show his support.



During the first round auditions, she performs in front of producer Gray. Due to her nervousness, she commits a mistake in her lyrics and is unfortunately unable to earn the golden necklace needed to proceed to the next round.

After elimination, she says, “I can’t go home. I prepared so much, but I couldn’t show it. Why did I get myself eliminated?” as she sheds tears of frustration.

“Show Me The Money 5″ broadcasts on Fridays at 11 p.m. KST.

Jewelry won the Golden Disk award (Song of the Year) in 2008 and prior to Park Jung Ah's and Seo In Young's departure they were quite popular. Star Empire's mismanagement ruined them. The same is probably going to happen to a lot of idols in the next ten years.

This is sad, tbh, how many groups are/will be fucked up because mismanagement?

And on a second note, it's been almost 10 years and she still pursues her dream of being a idol/singer/rapper... by now, I hope that she have a really good backup plan since it's more likely that that will not happen... I don't want to be mean, but idols have a relatively short life as idols (maleactors have a little more time tho) so, the best option would be having something outside the ent life and in the mean/spare time, pursue her dream...

superstar was also popular and sophisticated did fairly well afaik and then they became irrelevant, when seo in young and park jung ah left

star empire waited too long to release new material after the lineup changes

and their comeback song "back it up" was so bad... no wonder it flopped

She's really a good female rapper. I always thought she was under appreciated. Jewelry should have disbanded when SIY & PJA left. She might have been able to do better rather then wasting years on with Yewon and the "knock off Jewelry".

This is so sad. How things can change... To think many of our faves will suffer the same fate UGH. If your family is rich they could pull some strings for you even if your company is shitty but for most, that won't be the case.

It's really a shame that she couldn't show what she's got at the audition, she just choked. It would've been nice to see her keep going a little further, especially hearing about how she's working part time and nothing is working for her after leaving her group.

I remembered her. She was the rapper who sit on the chair and wait for her turn to rap during V.O.S Kyung Rok's solo promotions. I still have all the performances of that song in my harddisk. :P
