I'm in love with this album. It's so much more bright sounding compared to Base, which was a little darker and edgier and a little more about them sweet babymaking jams than this one is (i'm still terrorized by Fortune Cookie and Hallelujah to this day)

The songs I'm feeling the most are:
She Is, Moon, Dress Up, Cocktail, RED, and Suit Up.

I've read the lyrics for She Is, Moon, and RED so far and oh my god BOTH RED AND MOON ARE SO SENSUAL YOU CAN SMELL THE PRINCE INFLUENCE I need to read the other lyrics boy oh boy 😲😲😫

if you're talking about that one verse, then yeah, you're seeing what i'm seeing. i'm actually good friends with the person who translated the lyrics (or there's two translations but i'm friends with the person who's translated circulated) and i asked her about it. she basically told me that the song is fine minus that part and she said that the line bothered her too. it flew over my head at first (b/c i'm running on barely any sleep, tbh) but when i saw it i was like: "oh ..." like knowing how he usually is, i'm sure he didn't mean for it to be that way or for it to read as harmful but it is and there's no excuse for that. sigh. i wish there were a way to explain it to him (like when he had that discussion about feminism / misogyny last year), but.

yeah, i felt it was a step back too and also confusing because he seemed genuine in that conversation and i still think he totally was. so, i figure that there's still a lot of things that he needs to learn which goes for anyone, but still. there was a bit of a fuss on twitter earlier - mostly between shawols who had called it out and had a really nice discussion on it that helped a lot of people understand what was wrong with the verse. i saw a few people had @-ed him but he doesn't really use social media anymore so idk how it'd get back to him at this point. it doesn't make me care about him any less, but it gives me the same level of sigh!disappointment that i felt when some of my others made similar fuck ups in the past.

yikes. that sounds even worse (more... forceful?) than the translation i saw:

https://twitter.com/sullaem this is my friend's twitter that i mentioned above and she talks about it a bit. she's really meticulous / careful in her translating so hers is probably the most accurate, tbh. it's a shame / disappointing overall because the song is beautiful otherwise (like the translation said herself). i really don't think he wrote it with bad intention at mind but..., whatever he was trying to get across ended up being done completely backwards / wrong and he fucked up with it. there's no excuse for it.

thanks for the link! i do recall that user being really careful with translating so i think i'll trust hers most then. the ~vibe~ from hers isn't as unsettling as that one other one but still creepy so...

if i think about it from different angles, i think i can get how he would mean it in a less creepy way (like the other person "coming around" on their own instead of being pressured or something idk) but that's not the first thing that comes to mind, so if that was what he was going for then he completely fucked up the delivery.

But reading all the lyrics together gave me an "I'll seduce you" sort of vibe so I assumed he was going for some kind of Casanova level vibe.

Still, IA-- VERY clunky/messy delivery.

yeah with the rest of the song in mind, i could see what he was probably going for and wondered if it sounded better in korean than in translation, but even the translator was like "nope" so there's really no question that he messed it up

that's good to hear about shawols, sometimes even just fandom conversation is good. i don't expect anyone to like him less bc of it, but a slap on the wrist at least is deserved. articles about twice's sexist lyrics were out quickly after their comeback and i do wonder if he is going to get the same backlash. it kinda stings more in his case bc he writes his own lyrics, no one can blame a lyricist

i felt it was beneficial in general because there's a lot of shawols who........ don't get it, lol, but i guess that goes for any fandom. unless it gets back to him, the only way any of it can really go is the usual: "don't make excuses for it / accept that it was wrong and don't make others feel badly for being upset, etc." route. i thought about that with twice's lyrics too. i was trying to figure if there'd be a chance that k-netz would pick up on it, but i don't think it's one of the songs that he's gonna promote alongside the title track so it might just blow over, sadly. i considered that maybe someone would send a message in to his radio show about it but i don't think i've seen any mention of it beyond i-fandom.
