AOA’s Seolhyun Removed From Visit Korea Committee Official Site And Social Media

Despite the previous announcement that AOA’s Seolhyun would not be removed as a tourism ambassador, the idol’s image has been removed from the Visit Korea Committee website as of May 22.

Seolhyun was initially appointed as a tourism ambassador alongside actor Lee Min Ho for the “2016~2018 Years of Korea Tourism.” However, Seolhyun and her fellow AOA member Jimin recently came under fire for being unable to recognize an important historical figure on their show “Channel AOA.” The gaffe has drawn much criticism from netizens, especially regarding Seolhyun’s ambassador position, saying, “It makes no sense that she’s in charge of teaching other’s about Korea when she doesn’t know Korean history.”

It appears that Seolhyun’s image has been erased from both the official homepage and all social media accounts due to the controversy. However, a representative from the Visit Korea Committee stated, “We have no plans to replace her as a tourism ambassador.” The representative added, “Seolhyun was appointed as a tourism ambassador based on her contributions of her talents. The images being deleted has nothing to do with a replacement.”

In a situation like that, you try to hold back your tears no matter what because you're already embarrassed of your mistake and to cry on top of that would be more embarrassing. She just looks like she's trying to convey how hard she has it, which is why people are saying it looks staged.

It tells a lot though how quickly journalists/netizens cling onto these apparent signs of misfortune. They dont even care to check because they want her fall of grace to be true so badly...

i love seol because she's a genuinely sweet and hardworking girl, she basically put aoa on the map along with choa and jimin, and i hope this passes her by but you know how netizens are: sexist and misogynistic as hell and they just want to see a female fail, as if this isn't her life's work. where's all these hate comments when that boy group member wore blackface? oop no one cares right

They're a very popular group so it's no wonder they have haters
I don't think this will hurt them too much in the long run
It's bad timing that this happend right before their comeback but I don't think the majority of people will remember this

The girls were really ashamed and embarassed and their apologies were sincere imo so I do think it will die down
It really is a shame that they didn't know but it's not like they used drugs or attacked someone

ugh this whole scandal is annoying me esp bc there's a lot of misinformation going around (they keep talking about the kin ddo kkang thing but she never actually said it) and it's not like she outright said she doesn't know who ahn joongeun is, she just didn't recognize him from the photo. but netizens really wanted an actual reason to hate on her and now they have it. i hope it's not going to affect her in the long run. the whole fake crying thing is disgusting

i watched the mcountdown good luck fancam and it looks like she lost weight again :( her body is still goals, but i hope she's taking care of herself
