Hello all! I’m actually having quite fun looking up all these songs, so let’s keeping doing it until the Mods tell me to stop. Please…please don’t tell me to stop *puppy dog eyes*. Anyways, this Friday we’re going to check out the songs that topped the charts for the third week of May in 2011. We’ll start with #3, and the only boys out of the 5 videos this week.

#3 Beast “On Rainy Days”
I don’t remember this song at all. But I remember the other single, “Fiction.” That was the one with the shuffley feet dance, right? Shuffley. That’s a word, I swear.

#2 Sistar19 “Ma Boy”
THIS FREAKING JAM!!! This is my favorite song from the subunit, and probably my most favorite Sistar song in general. Press play and start body rolling. Honestly, you should have already been body rolling as soon as you saw what song it was.

#1 2NE1 “Lonely”
Love the feel of this MV, and the girls look great too (Except for that one potato sack outfit they put Bom in. Like, wtf? High heels + short skirt = Park Bom. I won’t accept anything else). My second fav song off the album.

Congratulations on that face, Sulli. So young and fresh faced!

#10 After School “Shampoo”
I believe this was the last video before Bekah graduated, right? She looks GOREGOUS in her part from 1:29. Also, Nana’s disinterested face throughout most of this MV gives me life.

Old f(x) is not much my style, I'm much more into Red Light and 4 Walls eras, but I'm kind of new to kpop so maybe is because I was not here for it and it doesn't have the same impact to me.

lol Beast's Fiction is the only song I know from them. Lately I have been trying to pay more attention to boy groups or at least to try to listen to their songs.

idk a lot of Beast songs but See You There (sometimes is translated as At That Place?) is prob my favorite. Oh Honey, Beautiful Night and Easy are good too.

Lmao I was such a Beast fan back then, but I don't remember the performance stepping under pouring water, this is so corny and funny xD but this song is still good. Isn't it the one which goes up the charts whenever it rains? otherwise it was a pre-release before Fiction, yes :)

it's funny how ppl don't know that song, it's their bestseller as far as i know. cube really found a relatable title there lol

pinocchio made me warm up to f(x), i so remember when that came out
and then lonely is the one that made me roll my eyes at 2ne1, it's not a bad song, but certainly not my fave

beast won for 'on rainy days' before they did 'fiction' lol it's even funnier because they weren't technically prompting that song. it was just for the comeback stages. it was that good. i still listen to it to this day. so how can people not remember the song?!? i used to be a big fan of them too by that point. it was one of those rare times where i could say 'i was there from the beginning!' then they just dropped the ball to me after that. Fiction was their peak.

i did like the song called 'black paradise' and thought they were releasing good songs again only to find out it was a song that's on an OST :/

I hear this from so many former beast fans and it's the same for myself as well. Everyone just lost interest after Fiction, it was weird. I dunno if that's when some of the more problematic members started being shitty or what? I don't know.

nah, it's just they only had songs produced by junhyung (and friends) as title songs from beautiful night on (the single after fiction i think).
i mean a lot of people don't hear that big of a difference between junhyung's sound and shinsadong's sound, but it's there, and it slowly took a toll on popularity as well. junhyung sounds like a discounted version of shinsadong.
god i miss shinsadong + beast, shinsadong + 4minute. that combination became really huge, such a shame cube let it go.
edit: disclaimer -- i'm all for idols producing their own stuff, but only if it is as marketable as other producers' output. some idols are great at writing and producing, but some are just not

so basically, i'm just not of fan of junhyung's sound and because a lot of fans felt similar (and may not have known of WHY their sound was different), a lot of people just dropped off.

i too am all for idols being able to produce their own music have it out there for the masses to listen to but when it's something that represent the group and it's negatively affecting the group, management should step in and put a stop to it. at the very least, he shouldn't be able to make the title songs. they are a business after all. it may have even been part of why Hyun-seung left.

This is super late and probably irrelevant now, but I think the same kind of applies to 2pm and Boa, too. Once Junsu/JunK started producing their title tracks I just lost interest. I didnt like Boa's self produced album, either compared to hurricane venus. It was just kind of lackluster and one dimensional.

Yeah, I loved Beast up through Fiction. Fiction is one of my favorite albums, kpop or not. But I do think it was their peak. It's not thawt they aren't talented, they have some of my favorite vocals, but the style of songs and production just didn't appeal to me as much after Fiction. I miss the days of Fiction...

Lonely and Ma Boy. Still great. I get a good feeling from those Kpop days. Pinocchio was great too - I've stanned f(x) since day one and their earlier discography gets w a y too little love!! (Lachata, Step By Me,the entire Nu Abo mini, their first full album - all bops!!)

Shampoo is the best AS song probably? Atleast in the top three of their best title tracks. That was a good era.
