i could be wrong, but they probably mean in combination of the two? you're right that girl groups generally do do better than boy groups digitally, with the exception of a few who're pretty consistent with their digitals (ie: beast, big bang, block b, exo, ikon, shinee, sometimes infinite, etc.). twice's physical sales are really impressive not just for a girl group but a rookie girl group. they're basically up-to-par with the sales that f(x) and snsd get already. so, the combo of having decent physical sales and incredible digital is pretty monsterous.

yeah I meant in both fandom and digital usually boy groups dominate the fandom it's nice to see a girl group compete with that and digitals is nice to see
