the Q&A is about the choreography of Seventeen:

Q: I was curious about their works so I'll ask some questions. Since the singers are participating in the making of the choreography, does the company have any supervision in it?
A: The company are the ones who publish it. They first have to make an inquiry by email

Q: So the company is the one who registers everything by them making inquiries?
A: That's right

Q: If so, then the company is in charge of what to register and delete it afterwards?
A: Since everything is sent through email, we're in charge of looking over the emails

Q: Can you confirm this for me if possible? Does the company issue any copyright claims over their works/choreography?
A: Are you talking about those 3 songs? (t/n: I guess they're talking about adore U, Mansae and Pretty U)

Q: There are those 3 songs and also their full album and their mini album, they were in charge of all those choreography, I want to confirm that they have copyright claims over them.
A: Please remain on the line, I will confirm this for you

Q: First of all, there are Seventeen's Kwon Soonyoung, Moon Junhee, Seo Myungho, and Lee Chan who are in charge of making the choreography. please let us know the dates when their works got registered and deleted.
A: The date where it was registered was on May 9th and the day were it got deleted was on May 12th.

Q: So once the company receives their request, you delete it afterwards?
A: That's right

Q: Adore U and Mansae were both produced by them, if there's anything to change (from group to individual creation), what happens?
A: The date to alter thing is on May 11th (by mail), and they have to request it to the company. if they can't reach our employees, they have to come to the company and request it here and the company would decide.

Q: So do you know about whether the changes will pass or be cancelled?
A: If it's not written in the email, we wouldn't know either

Q: When they send their inquiries or changes through email to Pledis, you don't tell them the reason you refuse their inquiries?
A: We don't include these contents (t/n: AKA they don't)

I tried to contact them once again to get the confirmation for their copyright claims

Q: Regarding Pretty U's choreography, they could make revisions until the 12th right?
A: That's right. When it reaches Pledis, it will have to be first approved by Choi Youngjoon individually. Later, they had to change it into a group inquiry and register once again

Q: What about the royalties regarding their choreography?
A: The choreography's royalties will be decided after deciding whether to put copyrights on it through requests and having taken into account the costs and differences of each song.

This is what Pledis told us, that there are no guarantee to the right of copyrights or receiving royalties for Seventeen's works and they also told the fans that everything Seventeen make have to be requested then registered and the traces are being deleted later. What kind of singer would trust in such companies?

When the fan tried to contact them this time, they were beating around the bushes and when asked about whether they had copyrights, they said that it would be done through requesting, but don't think that requesting would automatically mean that they will pass it.

Ultimately, we're asking feedback from Pledis

this isn't the first time pledis did this with hoshi (& the rest of the performance unit), they were called out a couple months ago by fans and 'fixed' the issue but here they are again trying not to pay svt for their work that they love to media play on. this isn't only it, fans found copyright issues with seungkwan and dk's lyrics as well.

Why do these companies try these things when they should know fans are private eyes? I know how you feel though they looked so worn out underneath the performances, I really hope they start to stand up to Pledis' mistreatment

I've never believed that Hoshi did the choreography to begin with. It seems likely to me that they had a ghost credit agreement that fell through.

tbh i don't see any compelling reason why the svt boys should get ownership of the copyright even if they came up with everything by themselves. they are employees of pledis. in fact, things they come up with during the course of their employment can rightfully belongs to pledis if the contract of employment states that the copyright would be assigned to pledis.

that said, the way pledis had to alter the registration is shady af.

Any company that milks employees for creative, emotional, physical labor and doesn't give them the potential for proper copyrights is literally scamming. It has nothing to do with the contract and anybody can see that, seeing as they were registered right before BY Pledis and taken away three days later.

Not the least bit surprised, sigh. I know a lot of fans are like "Seventeen are pretty much self-producing idols and their fandom is only getting bigger and bigger, so why can't they just sue the hell out of Pledis as a group and get out of there? Another agency will pick them up for sure!", but we don't know what kind of contract the boys are bound to. And I'm guessing that at this point they probably don't wish to deal with all the risks and messiness a (possibly never-ending) lawsuit will inevitably cause. Heck, I sometimes get the feeling some of the boys are still reeling from the fact that they have actually debuted and are doing well.

I feel like any dissatisfaction the boys might have with the company('s higher-ups) is mostly being brushed aside (for now); the focus is on gaining a strong(er) footing in the idol industry, and...I don't know, waiting until they are not as "green" and have solid support from people within the entertainment industry for them to take the plunge? And even so there is no guarantee a new agency might offer better things for Seventeen.

I, of course, wish the best for Seventeen as a fan who adores them, but the possibility of them suing/leaving Pledis is, imo, close to zero at present. I'm just taking comfort in the fact that the fandom is so protective of the boys, and refuses to take any shit from Pledis.

Pledis is scamming their idols and don't even care who knows it. They won't put the copyrights back because they really don't wanna pay them for it and know they're still gunna HAVE to do more work in order to have another comeback anyway. Re-releasing the Boys Be album just with more photocards is now like the third-most capitalistic thing Pledis has done to Svt/the fans.

Why would they think this is ok? If you wouldn't remove an idols lyric/composition credit, why would you remove choreography? Hoshi, and the others, are talented and have just as much right the ownership of their work as Woozi does. And honestly, it takes a lot of skill to be able to make (in part or whole) a cohesive dance for 13member group.

I think out of all horrible stuff Pledis did to their artists, this is probably one of the worst. Taking the credit just to get away from paying the members are just wrong in so many levels -- its scam and I wonder how are they going to response to this. :(

"We forgot we don't actually have to pay them for this lmao we looked at the contracts again and remembered. Please anticipate their next, mostly free comeback at the end of the year." And the gag is, even if it was in the contract, the idol industry is fueled by this type of scam.
