HEY OMONA !

Like our members + readers the mod staff really want content to get out ASAP for more people to be able to join. Right now this requires more volunteers to work behind the scenes. We have two mod job positions that interested people can apply for. 1.) Queue mod 2.) Comment section mod.

Here is a brief description of what a mod in either of these positions would do:


QUEUE MOD:

- Uses their main account
- Checks posts follow criteria in order to be approved
- Makes sure content is new and has not be posted (no double posts)
- Leaves screened comments for an OP if corrections are necessary to an approved post



COMMENT SECTION MOD:

- Uses an account other than their main account
- Keeps an eye out for people who may need help or people who are breaking rules
- Warns people breaking rules
- Bans repeat rule breakers
- Keeps a shared event log with other comment section mods.


Once approved more details will be given, and any questions you have will be answered.

How about we have a 'council' sort of group who can discuss important topics privately and hopefully implement new practices and stuff ?

Your right about the bigger picture and improving things. Stuff like comparing our site to other Kpop news sites and seeing where we can improve ourselves and get new readers. How to make posts a little more engaging and diverse probably. I've started to frequent reddit/kpop as well and a lot of their posts introduce users to one another and/or talk about Kpop in general. Would be interesting if we could have that sort of a space as well

Thanks for the suggestion. Do you mean a council of regular members? I could see how that could give us a bigger picture of what is going on in the community and help improve things. Mods do discuss issues as they arise but there could be some stuff not as apparent to us since we use Omona differently.

i dont know if this is on topic but maybe a mod who accepts people into the comm would be a good idea? theres been so many kpop posts on ontd lately and every time people seem to be sad that they never get their membership approved for whatever reason. more members i think would mean more activity (especially newer kpop fans! excited by every new band etc) i think the rule that you have to use your livejournal is a little bit outdated bc lbr who is posting journal posts anymore but i think activity on their account from comments etc.

We do have designated mods for the member queue. We also have no rule that people have to use their LJ. We just don't get a lot of people using their twitter or FB accounts.

EDIT: Usually when I approve FB or Twitter applicants they don't go through because they haven't confirmed their email when connecting LJ to their account. This also happens with journals as well. I think people may be unaware of this.

I also think open membership should happen again, at least for a while. It's a new era of kpop now tbh, and may help the community out.

How about new members getting accepted on omona? I saw people on ONTD commenting that they applied to get in 1 year ago and they still haven't been accepted..?

Those people were either told no or they didn't go through the whole process
