As some fans might know, Crayon Pop’s agency, Chrome Entertainment had a management overhaul in recent times. It happened approximately in late February 2016. Former CEO and founder, Hwang Hyunchang has left Chrome Entertainment and taking over him is CEO Kim Jeongtae (you can see him pushing the luggage cart for Crayon Pop here). A number of staff have also quit following the change of management. Currently, Manager Suh is the only known manager Crayon Pop has. Manager Eunjung was recently seen at AoA Seolhyun’s fansign.
CEO Kim Jeongtae has many years of experience in the entertainment industry; however, the groups he has led are relatively unknown to both the Korean and international community. As such, it is unknown how well he will be able to lead Crayon Pop in the remaining 15+ months of their 5-year contract.
According to Korean fans, who queried the company, Crayon Pop is slated for a May 2016 comeback. Unfortunately, according to Manager Suh, there is still no confirmed date as of 31 Mar 2016.
According to our sources that [CP.Me isn't] revealing, a transfer of Chrome Entertainment’s office, dated 22 Feb 2016 happened from Hwang Hyunchang to Kim Jeongtae. Also, on Chrome Entertainment’s page on JobKorea, the name of the CEO (대표자) has changed to Kim Jeongtae (김정태).
There is also reason to believe that CEO Kim Jeongtae has ties with a Chinese entertainment company, STAR GAZE Group Limited. Sometime in late 2015, Crayon Pop had signed a contract with STAR GAZE, and have since appeared on their promotional materials. It is still unknown if Chrome Entertainment has become a subsidiary of STAR GAZE, or if the Sony Music Korea contracts have expired.
As for what this entails for Crayon Pop, it still remains to be seen. This is not the first time Chrome Entertainment has had a management shake up. The first one happened just prior to Bar Bar Bar’s release, with a large number of staff leaving Chrome Entertainment.
I hope fans will carry on supporting whatever Crayon Pop will do in the near and distant future.

this is a bit old news by now but i'm posting here because i know there are a lot of casual fans of crayon pop that probably don't necessarily check cp.me for regular updates. personally i'm sad to see hwanggu go but hopefully this means chrome ent and it's artists are in more capable hands now and the downward spiral of the company can be, if anything, at least slowed.

Date: 2016-05-11 07:43 am (UTC)anyways im gonna use this as a space for me to say what i've been saying on twitter for MONTHS: as a kmuch fan, and especially as one of the more prominent ones considering how i contribute to fandom, FUCK chrome ent and i'm glad hwang ceo is gone. i like him as a person and i love the relationship he has/had with the chrome ent staff and crayon pop/kmuch members but as a CEO he was constantly making terrible decisions and getting in his artists ways (ESPECIALLY kmuch).
i was one of the people constantly defending him and his questionable actions years ago when i first and only supported crayon pop, and people who know me personally know how diehard i am for anything chrome ent does, but watching kmuch struggle during their unnecessary hiatus and then struggle EVEN MORE due to chrome's lack of promotion when they DID finally come back with 'tie my hands' was so absolutely frustrating as a fan who has supported the company and group from the literal very beginning.
i know people like to make excuses for hwang ceo/chrome by saying they're small and don't have a lot of money/experience but really that's bullshit and not an excuse at all because chrome ent has been sabotaging kmuch for so long that it's amazing how anyone could say otherwise.
anyways this is way too long because i have a lot of aggressive feelings about everything so i'll just end with saying bye to all my favorite staffers @ chrome who were as much a part of the family/fandom as any of us. i haven't been able to find any info on the new ceo so i don't know his track record but my fingers are crossed that someone at the helm with more experience/industry know-how will be able to give yongpop and kmuch both the hands up they need to undo the damage hwang ceo has done for the past 2 years.
