Minzy speaks up about leaving 2NE1 and YG

Hello, this is Minzy.

It is with a sincere heart that I write to you all.

First, I would like to apologize to all those who expressed shock at the news of my departure.

It is after careful consideration and much deliberation that I have decided to pursue a new journey as an artist named Minzy Kong.

Ever since debuting with 2NE1 at the young age of 16, I have been grateful for the wonderful memories I shared with incredible fans worldwide. These experiences were undeniably precious and I take none of them for granted. Thank you all for helping me grow as an artist.

I promise to work even harder to return before you all with an improved and more honest version of myself.

Through a renewed vision and hard work, I hope to reciprocate the love, dedication, and support that you have shown me.

Thank you to all the fans, family, and friends who have shown me their love and concern.

I promise to return soon.

lmao @ that lack of any reference to the other 2NE1 girls and YGE. I mean it's expected, unless she was planning on never working as a celeb again there was no way in hell she was going to say anything about them. and since CL/Dara(/Bom) are still under YGE I don't expect (or want) them to say anything either. from now on both sides are probably going to act like the other doesn't exist, w/e idc. YGE remains trash for the unsubtle attempts to throw her under the bus tho

considering the way yg "handled" her leaving did you really expect her to mention anything about the others or the company? i doubt she has anything nice to say at this point, but if she actually said something bad (which is impossible, she's not dumb) you'd be after her as well

Good for her for leaving though, must have been a really hard decision... so many yg artists seem frustrated there, but the brand of yg has so much gong for it. -_-

Not to mention I never felt like 2NE1 really stressed any sort of "we're all besties! ot9!!!" image the way SNSD did - YG groups don't really do that, most seem to refer to each other as coworkers more than anything.

I'm not surprised at her not mentioning the girls. It's obvious CL, Dara, and Bom and minzy grew distant in the past year.
Idk why I have a feeling her religious family felt some type of way about Bom and her drug scandal but good luck to minzy!

it is strange that she didn't mention the other 3, but i don't think she did for any bad reason. either she is upset that she didn't get support from them before she left or she doesn't want to mention them and put pressure on them to support her publicly and thereby go against yg.

i think this was a pretty good letter, bit sad that it looks like we won't hear from her for a while at least.

You know I took her mentioning the fans and not 2NE1 implying that this message is to the fans personally? Kinda like when dating "scandals" come out whoever is involved doesn't mention their bandmates. Pero ok. I can't even think of anyone who has left their group that had mentioned their members when they leave a letter like this.

This letter doesn't really say anything but that she's alive. So meh on that.

Anyway. She's still following everybody from YG except YG. I don't think Minzy has any ill will, like, at all. I think she went YG to see what they had in mind for her future and she realized that they just don't value her on a business level, so she left.

The only thing I'm curious of, is if she even tried to make it so that she could be in 2ne1 but not be handled by YG. Like, I honestly feel like Minzy won't do well solo and it makes feel kind of bad because if Minzy can't make it as a solo artist then she won't have much else to do, stage wise. On the bright side though, she has earned a pretty penny with 2ne1 and She'll be getting her degree soon, if she already hasn't.

Idk though. I still feel like she will regret having left.

i think ppl are overanalyzing the lack of mention of the other members a bit. of course things could be frosty btwn them but who knows. i dont think this note is a meticulously crafted spite bomb or something.
i remember watching 2ne1tv and if the girls being close was an act then it was certainly a good act... maybe they drifted apart over the years, but its hard to imagine there being serious bad blood there.
