jonghyun to make solo comeback this month!

In a continuation of the solo baton pass within SM (which began with Yesung → Tiffany), SM Entertainment has confirmed that SHINee's Jonghyun will be releasing his first full length studio album this month. With the initial news release earlier today, it was stated that the exact date had not been finalized, but this was turned around within a few hours with a statement stating that it is slated for the fourth week of May and is now in the stages of it's final preparation. It has also been stated that Jonghyun partook in not only the composition / production and lyric writing in the album, but that he is putting together his showcase as well. More info the come!

From what I've read SHINee has a jam packed schedule this month so I hope he's ok. I've enjoyed his other single releases so far so I hope it's another good one!

i'm not even surprised tbh. they're pulling the same shit that they did last year: wasted the first three months of the year doing barely any comebacks and now they're rushing them out. there's gonna push them out so fast between this month - october.

but, yep. they do. toronto / la / chicago this weekend, dome concerts in the two weeks that follow, shanghai the week after that ...

Last year was like a whirlwind too. I don't understand why they don't do comebacks gradually over the year. They have so many groups plus solo artists you'd think they would plan better.

And here I thought sm was doing decently this year with only 1-2 releases per month, but now they're gonna overlap Tiffany, Jonghyun and EXO all together. Rme.

SHINee's schedule is seriously insane this month. I wonder if they take stimulants or something to keep up with it.

nah, they're basically repeating exactly what they did last year: the only artists that released anything from january - mid-march were jjong, amber and red velvet. after red velvet they had exo make their comeback and from that point onward they were crunching in comebacks / debuts every two to three weeks.

At least last year they started with the "big comebacks" in march. This time they've basically wasted the whole first half of the year in 1 release per month (mostly solos) and they're gonna crunch everything (exo, snsd, f(x), shinee, red velvet, taeyeon, probably nct again) between june-october.

imo: i wouldn't be surprised if snsd didn't have a comeback this year. yoona is busy in china. tiffany's solo is just coming out now, and taeyeon still has to release which i'm pegging for fall. group comeback wise, we know exo is in june, but i'm guessing we'll get: another in july, one in september-ish and another in october. we won't get anything really in august b/c of the olympics (which is why we're getting a comeback rush lately). next year is going to be different i'm sure because sm is gonna have the majority of super junior + tvxq coming back.

really? i supposed snsd would comeback this year again to ride on the momentum since their group comeback + taeyeon's solo were a success last year. anyway, there's still exo (june) and then f(x), shinee (they pretty much confirmed a group comeback this year), red velvet (yeri confirmed that they'll comeback "soon"), taeyeon's full album and probably another nct's subunit debut or a nct-u's comeback.

didn't dbsk and a few suju members go to the army at the end of last year though? since the army is usually around 20-22 month and ryeowook and kyuhyun are going this year, they'll still have the majority of members missing for the most part of 2017.

Jonghyun's compositions are always good so I'm looking forward to this but echoing everyone else's concerns, I hope he gets enough rest since he'll be extremely busy. But maybe he's like me, I always need to be doing something and I love constantly being busy. Haha.

Anyways, I can't wait to see them in Chicago this weekend!

tbh, he is that type. he's said multiple times that if he isn't constantly doing something that he basically gets itchy about it. (key and taemin are the same way, iirc.) he seems a lot less anxious about this release than he did the last time around so i'm taking that as a good sign, but i hope he can get a bit of rest in before the cycle kicks off.
