Plot: Kang Hye-soo (Uee) is a single mother who struggles to raise her daughter while paying off her late husband's debts. Han Ji-hoon (Lee Seo Jin) is the son of a chaebol who seeks a contract marriage in order to save his mother, who needs a liver transplant. When Kang is diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor, she agrees to marry Han and donate part of her liver to his mother, in exchange for enough money to provide for her daughter until she reaches adulthood.

I must be honest; I only made the post to know if anyone else is watching this. This drama is not perfect and uses the typical drama tropes we are used to, marriage contracts, incurable diseases, overbearing chaebols, etc., but is really well executed and full of heart. Also I always loved Uee as an actress and I am so glad that she went back to acting like she means it (her acting on High Society wasn't bad, but was very poor), not only that, she is freaking amazing in this drama and is blowing me out of the water, she's so real and believable as Hye Soo, bringing her A game and making me sob like crazy. Also, the way how close and touchy Uee and Lee Seo Jin are on BTS is making me suspicious.

I talk crap about drama tropes, but I can't stay away from some of them. I don't know why I get sucked into marriage contract dramas. I enjoy watching this drama. Didn't think Lee Seo Jin and UEE would have believable compatability, but as a couple in the drama they're cute.

I just finished ep. 9 today too. Good stuff.

I just want them to make babies, permanently move to that island, and for everyone to live. That kiss scene was FYAH!!!

The show is very mild tbh. But I think they pull off noble-idiocy really well, while mixing in a lot of deals with the devil~

True...but I have a feeling his tune might change if it was his life on the line. Pretty much using his sons as business assets and manipulating them with their inheritance as bait, plus the way he's created a culture of fear in that house and the general rude manner he talks to people...not to mention the impact of his character on his sons turning one cold/distant and the other with no respect for women at all... I think that's enough evil to be labelled as such.

I'm liking it. Once the kid tonned down her bratness, it is just cute her being together with fake dad and fake grandma.

But one annoying thing, is her not getting cancer treatment, I hope now she doesn't need the liver surgery, she goes after treatment, or goes to a super good doctor, because her lover has money and they can afford the best doctors.

Instead I know she won't tell him, and whhey find out, it is too late, so she will prefer to live few years and not take dangerous surgery ... :(( sn't can

i'm so addicted to this show ngl!!! i really wasn't expecting to like it this much, i do love the marriage contract trope but i've never seen it done as a melo, just light and fluffy rom coms. it's not ridiculous and overblown tho, the emotions ring true. the pd is also doing great work and elevating the script. the lighting and framing is a+

uee is killing it, she's totally redeemed herself in my eyes. i don't think the high society debacle was particularly her fault, she was ok but saddled with a character that made zero sense to me. i thought sung joon's acting was worse, he looked dead inside the entire time lmao. the writer is now on my shit list.

OP I havent watch this drama yet but its on my list for sure.

Lee Seo Jin has always been one of my fave actor after Yisan and marriage contract plot has always been my fave plot in Kdramas. I hate K-romcom in general but plot that involved marriage contract is usually very well done like Fated to Love You, Sassy Girl Chunhyang and Prime Minister & I. :D
