These photos are really awesome! I love the technique so much. I have a degree in photography and my background makes it so hard to break away from all of the "rules" that were ingrained in my head for all those years lol. This photoshoot pretty much breaks all of them and I'm so envious!
Ya sure! I'm afraid they aren't as interesting as I made them out to be, haha. There's the Zone System (for proper exposure/development of film), rule of thirds, balancing elements/symmetry, framing, stuff like that. There's also guidelines for studio portraits as well using artificial lighting: the inverse square law, Rembrandt lighting, etc.
lol.jk. wow all that stuff is too technical. i'd thought it would be more simple like 'always make sure your camera is focused'. or 'try to get the subject's full head in one picture'.
It's definitely too technical. My best friend from college told me that going through the program made a permanent dent in her creativity because of all the technical stuff we were taught over the years. Ever since I graduated, I've been trying to find an organic way to move beyond all the technicalities and find a style that works for me. It's fun (for me at least) to experiment, but I still have that voice in my head telling me to follow technique lol.
This shoot is giving me Bowie/glam rock vibes. It has that soft, sensual and dreamy 70s vibe and he looks stunning. I love it so much that I'm thinking of getting the magazine and all.

truly the ONLY thing I don't like about this era/comeback is his hair. can you imagine how great all his performances and photo shoots would be if he had dark hair???! I'd die.
