Mnet is set to launch a new idol reality show.
A representative from CJ E&M Mnet confirmed the news with Ilgan Sports on March 22, saying “We are preparing a team for the launching of a new idol reality show. We’re not yet sure on who the target audience will be but we are currently organizing the production staff.”
One year later in the fall of 2014, Team B from “Who Is Next” and three new trainees competed for a spot on YG Entertainment’s new boy group in a new show called “Mix & Match,” being evaluated in the areas of skill, charm, and uniqueness . The six winners of this show went on to become iKON who debuted soon after, in 2015.
Most recently, Mnet teamed up with JYP Entertainment for a reality girl group survival show called “Sixteen” last year with, not surprisingly, sixteen JYP trainees competing against one another for a spot in the new girl group. The nine winners of the show ended up debuting as Twice in 2015, as well.
After broadcasting an idol survival reality show each year, the new program by Mnet is expected to debut another idol group this year. There is no set broadcasting date as of this time.

I wonder if it's going to be another company based show. Looks like survival shows are the trend now, sigh...

Date: 2016-03-24 01:01 am (UTC)I think it's YG's girls. It would make a lot of sense given that YG didn't send any trainees to Produce 101; might have been planning for their own reality show plus don't want to get any girls tied to a one year contract for the project group.
