Netizens Discover IU Charity Project: 📚Scholarships and Development Fund for Her Former School 🎓

A netizen who recently graduated from IU's alma mater, Dong Duk Women's High School, recently uploaded photos from a particular article on high school newspaper


The school newspaper says:

Dongduk’s pride, 96th batch graduate, singer IU donated 10 million won this year without fail to the development fund of our school. Besides donating to the development fund, she prepared rice cake and drinks for the teachers too. Also, IU revealed her intention to support the university tuition fees for those from difficult family backgrounds and donated 5 million won each to 4 students who got into university but face difficulties paying the tuition fee, to help pay for their education. In her congratulatory video message for the 100th graduation ceremony, IU congratulated the school on its 100th graduation ceremony and hoped that her juniors would have a bright future ahead, showing her affection for her juniors and alma mater. Although she started her career as a singer, she showcased her talents to the fullest as an actress, MC and in various other aspects, bringing glory to her school as a great pride of Dongduk. We hope to see a 2nd, 3rd IU in future that would bring Dongduk Girls’ High with 100 years of tradition to greater heights in future.


The 'IU Scholarship' will be an annual scholarship funded by the singer each year beginning in 2016, and will consist of 5,000,000 KR₩ (approximately $4300) awarded to 4 students from underprivileged families. In addition to the newly established 'IU Scholarship', the singer also donated an amount of 10,000,000 KR₩ (approximately $8600) to go toward school improvement funds.

Drama “Scarlet Heart” Confirms Broadcast Date


The highly anticipated historical fantasy drama “Scarlet Heart” has confirmed its broadcast date! The drama is an adaptation of the Chinese web novel and drama of the same name and the Korean production will be broadcast in both China and Korea simultaneously.

The drama completed casting in November and features an all-star cast including Lee Joon Gi, IU, Hong Jong Hyun, EXO’s Baekhyun, Kim San Ho, Yoo Sun Woo, Nam Joo Hyuk, Ji Soo, Kang Ha Neul, Kang Han Na, and Girls’ Generation’s Seohyun among many, many more.

“Scarlet Heart,” formerly called “Moon Lovers,” will be broadcast in September on SBS in Korea and Youku in China. The Chinese production won Best Foreign Drama at the Seoul International Drama Awards in 2012 and features the female lead being sent back in time to the Qing dynasty after a car accident.

The Korean version features IU as the female lead and the setting will be Korea’s Goryeo dynasty. Lee Joon Gi will be playing the fourth prince in King Taejo Wang Geon’s family, and the drama has been planned for a total of 20 episodes.

The weather’s becoming a lot warmer recently right? I heard there will be spring rain throughout the country starting tomorrow. (It’s a secret that because of the rain, our filming schedule is cancelled and we’re forced to take a break) I’ve been travelling around the country filming for the drama recently~ While admiring the beautiful scenery and eating yummy food from each place, I’m having fun at work!
It’s already mid-March. Time really flies. To fulfil everything I’ve promised you guys this year, I feel a sense of urgency!! Haha there’s not enough timeㅠㅠ so much to do.. But I shan’t be impatient and I’ll carefully consider the things to do to bring joy to all of you! I miss you uaena! I stopped by because I wanted to tell you all that spring is here.
