Plot: Shi-Jin (Song Joong-Ki) is the captain of the special forces. He catches a motorcycle thief with Sergeant Major Dae-Young (Jin Goo). The thief is injured during his capture and is sent to the hospital. Dae-Young realises his cellphone was stolen by the thief and goes to the hospital to retrieve his cellphone.

In the emergency room, Shi-Jin meets Dr. Mo-Yeon (Song Hye-Kyo) for the first time. He falls in love with her immediately. Mo-Yeon mistakenly assumes Shi-Jin is part of thief's criminal gang. He proves to her that he is a soldier with the help of army doctor Myeong-Joo (Kim Ji-Won).

Shi-Jin and Mo-Yeon begin to date, but due to their jobs their dates don't go well. Shi-Jin takes an order to lead his soldiers on a peacekeeping mission to the country of Uruk. Meanwhile, Mo-Yeon becomes upset that she fails to become a professor due to a colleague's privileged background. When Shi-Jin and Mo-Yeon meet again, they talk about their views on life and realise how different they are. Shi-Jin, as a soldier, kills to protect lives and Mo-Yeon, as a doctor, tries to save all lives. They say their goodbyes.

Eight months later, Mo-Yeon rebuffs the sexual advances of hospital chairman Suk-Won (Tae In-Ho) and as retribution is assigned to lead a medical team in Uruk. There, Shi-Jin and Mo-Yeon meet again.

The real OTP. Joong Ki still can't wink. Also, can we talk about how the OST is dominating the digital charts? All the songs are TOP 6 on MelOn right now. Feel kind of bad for those coming back during this time.

Onew has done so well. I die over Jin Goo and Kim Ji Won's parts. The OST is amazing. And I'm stunned that this is over 25% in ratings.

Also, I'm in love with Song Joong Ki even more now.

I am so so so in love with the OST. Especially cant wait for Junsu's song to be released and dominate the charts also. Onew has really surprised me in this drama, and I felt so bad for him as he felt guilty for leaving his patient. But I hope he realizes he made the right decision, since he would've been no help if he got injured also.

I've finally watched something more than 2 first eps and... it's bad mess.
Not in a worst drama in history ever mess, but deff not series that has solid base for that whole craze/ratings.
Pretty scenery and ocasionally nice shots of SJK are too little to compensate.

Story is basically nonexistent, I still do not know why I should care about main couple and what their problem in not being together is, like they talk&talk and suddenly there's some dramatic music and one person walks away and I'm confused&bored. They chilled a bit in tries to model SJK in some flirty/cheeky guy manner, that was tragic
Second leads had potential for interesting pairing plot but it washed down quickly, they still more likable, at least I've felt some emotions here?

The amount of cringe with how they handled some army or medical stuff, like me the person who not knows much about it already see that shit do not adds up...
Then there's the general cringe with how the tempo of the story goes, or lack of it, it's been 8 eps and I still feel like nothing, maybe beside that earthquake, happend.
I don't know bc they went cheap route or what but some of the foregin characters acting abilities are cringe af also, like I'm watching and feel like ok, it's good, it's passable and then bam: the ball dropped even lower. It's like multiple attack of that Heir's blond guy lol

So yeah, generally: i want my time back lol

for real. I watched ep 7 & 8 in like 20 minutes because I was fast-forwarding every scene.

I just realized Heirs had more of a "plot" than this show, and that show was a fucking mess. The bar is even lower than I thought lol

I so agree, the plot didn't do anything to me when I read it so I didn't plan on watching it but since it became a huge success I thought I would and now I did I'm just left with the question why. There's nothing in this drama and the music is basically at this point telling me what I should feel since the scenes leave me bored or waiting.

this show is seriously...crap. idk how you can have an interesting natural disaster rescue mission plot and still be boring.

8 episodes in and none of the love-lines have moved forward. What is the point of this being a romance? Criminal Minds characters get more kiss scenes, and they spend an entire episode on a plan.

If anyone is interested in this plot done right, you should watch "Battle of Changsha"! It's everything this show will never be.

This drama has like no plot but I still love to watch, I have no idea why (lies, I know It's cause sjk).
Moyeon internal struggle is real and Shijin is so straightforward i love that. But they are dragging a little, we're going to ep 9 already, c'mon. I love seeing them talk tho cause that's a rare thing in dramas.

I still could care less about the second couple, they're sooo boring. Dr. Daniel and his "wife" are more interesting.

Talking about eps 7 and 8, I kinda liked the earthquake mini arc, but I watched all 20 eps of D-Day and didn't really wanted to watch a earthquake disaster again.
Jinki did so well, I'm happy his acting is good.
And god that last scene in ep 8 I almost died of secondhand embarrassment.

There is still no plot, but I've come too far to go back now...lol.

The Chihoon character is interesting, I wrote about it on my blog, but I have to wonder where he goes from here.

Honestly, where does this drama go from here? There are 8 episodes left and not much has happened, lol.

i enjoyed these two episodes! nothing much happens but one hour passes by so fast when you're staring at so much pretty. im really enjoying SJK in this role. he didn't do much for me beforehand but now 😏 i also didn't think much of the second male lead, sergeant seo/jin goo but when he was angry swearing (can't believe shibal got approved hah) at the loser energy plant manager i went woahhh and now seeing him in a new light hah.

People keep mentioning bad foreigner acting but.... this is a kdrama. All of the foreign actors in the dramas I've watched have been subpar but what can you expect - they're not actors from hollywood (I guess Conan O'Brien's the closest thing). No one's going to fly an american actor in to say maybe 3 lines of korean-written english. Besides that I thought the Arab actors were fine, I'm fine with Argus too - at the very least, he's not wooden and is believably threatening (and hella cute). The bar girl I've heard complaints about but I don't mind the character the way that others do (she's at least not 1D imo, is kickass, is a sadistic flirt, and makes 100 mean knockoff subways when needed)

As for no plot - yeah I have no argument. It's an even bigger flaw in a drama that's entirely preproduced like this one. That being said, I'm still watching for the characters and nekkid army men *swoon*.

I'm watching for the characters mostly: I like the couples - the main and secondary and tertiary (flakey doctor+no nonsense nurse, Daniel+wifey ish, Kibumie+savior), I like the bromances, I like the character development of secondary characters Kibummie and Onew (who's doing really great, wow srsly). I hella like whatever SJK is doing, he still looks like a 12 yr old but damn it all the army did him good.

Also, kind of surprised at how quiet omona is on how honest and healthy relationships here are. I mean, there's no ridiculous love triangle (except the one Myungju's dad wishes existed). There's wrist grabbing and sudden kisses but there's no dragging against one's will, no overriding rejections. The male lead is an elite army captain which is about as alpha as you can get but he still asks for permission, values the female lead's opinion, admires her for her abilities in addition to her crazy beautiful face, and accepts rejection. I'm not saying it's the drama of the year (I'd nominate Signal for that) but at the very least it does some really important things right (god I hope I haven't jinxed it).

Edit: ALSO FU DOTS WHY YOU GOT TO MAKE ME BAWL OVER MANAGER GO IN BOTH EPISODES. NOT COOL.

Oh I agree the male lead is really unique by kdrama standards especially for this writer who managed to make me hate Lee Minho in heirs.
He is really considerate of her feelings and listens to what she says. He also avoided touching her after she rejected his kiss. I enjoy his honesty about his feelings.

To me the only controlling thing that happened was in the first episode when the military doctor pulled rank on her ex which was uncomfortable to watch.

I also appreciate the lack of love triangle.
