CLC to Launch Activities in Japan

CLC will start its global project.

The group will release its first mini album High Heels in Japan on April 13 and begin its official activities in the country. The album will contain PEPE, First Love, Curious and Pretty in Japanese versions. Moreover, Kylie Minogue’s I Should Be So Lucky will be covered to be inserted as a bonus track.

CLC chose Japan as its first overseas promotion country and it is currently planning its activities in the area. In particular, it is an exceptional case for a rookie to release a translated album in a country that never made an official debut, so local music managers are paying attention to the group’s next steps.

The group recently confirmed to show up in Beautiful Mission of Kawaii-an TV in Japan, which will firstly air on March 7. Kawaii-an TV is an idol group channel that the mass public prefers to watch, and CLC is the first Korean group to appear in it.

Meanwhile, CLC made its comeback on February 29 with its third mini album Refresh.

Seungyeon Takes Over As Leader Of CLC Ahead Of Group's Japanese Debut

CUBE Entertainment act CLC have decided to shift things around before officially entering the Japanese market next month.

Recently adding two new CLC members, the girl group is preparing to make their Japanese debut with Seungyeon taking over as the official leader.

Announcement of the leadership change was made through radio show Sukira.

Fancafe messages from Seunghee and Seungyeon regarding the change

this leaves an unpleasant taste in my mouth. seunghee's always been overlooked even when she was both the leader and main vocal and seungyeon is still being pushed as the center, but this decision will only reduce her role in the group. idk whose smart idea this was, but i can't say i like it. #saveseunghee2k16

i dont see how a leader change of an established group could ever be good for group moral ... whether internal or with the fandom. (i mean, unless the leader was universally hated or something but ...)

this group is crazy. i was so excited for them pre-debut and almost everything that's happened post debut has made me ???

i guess we'll see what this means for the group later, but what if it was in part seunghee's wish though?

I remember seunghee saying she wanted to be able to be close with the other members even though everyone was telling her she had to have distance as the leader. I hope this arrangement makes her happier in that regard. and hopefully seungyeon is happy with it too/shitty fans don't give her too much grief about it.

yeah, that's what makes me think she is happy to not be leader

idk this leader change seems to be something seunghee would be happy with tbh, given what she's said in the past and this fan cafe letter. i love seungyeon so hopefully she doesn't get any flack for it, not like it was her decision.

i figured they would target the chinese market because they added elkie lol. sorn speaks mandarin i believe? tho she also speaks japanese.

edit: yeeun also speaks mandarin.

i hope they do well in japan but this makes me feel wary that they'll just be sent off to japan and there won't be as much subbed stuff of their activities or updates, and they'll become like u-kiss or supernova only occasionally promoting in korea. the leader change is weird too but hopefully it will go over smoothly. luckily they haven't lost any members yet

1. totally random to include a kylie cover but i love that song so i'm excited to hear it
2. i'm not sold on seungyeon as a leader but w/e i'm only into clc for sorn so does it matter??? no
3. why are they going to japan when they just added a mandarin member LOL
they better thank their lucky stars sorn speaks every language known to man

Cube really doesn't have any strategy with them, right?
I thought adding Elkie, on top of having Sorn speaking mandarin and Yeeun learning it meant they'll have Chinese activities - and it would make sense financially to invest in this country (Cube must know about this with 4Minute) - but no... what a missed opportunity...

Seunghee didn't seem that comfortable with being a leader so I hope this change is something wanted by her and based on the group's dynamics. Following Nine Muses, I'm always a bit suspicious with this kind of decisions... It would be easy to blame the leader for the group's lack of success instead of wondering what really went wrong with the management :/
