Korean beauty is getting major buzz these days. We haven't tested these picks in our Beauty Lab yet, but dermatologists and skincare lovers everywhere are singing their praises.

1. Dr.Jart+ Dermaclear Micro Water

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

We've covered cleansing waters and their ability to gently remove makeup. This pick is made with 85% active hydrogen mineral water and 90% natural ingredients, meaning it will swipe away stubborn mascara and oils while being mindful of your sensitive skin.

Dr.Jart+ Dermaclear Micro Water ($22, Amazon.com)

2. Banila Co. Clean It Zero

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

This scoop-able cleanser transforms from a solid balm to an oil as you massage it into your skin. It claims to dissolve makeup and residue and touts skin-brightening papaya extract and Vitamin C in its ingredients. With raving consumer reviews, it could be just the facial cleanser you've been waiting for.

Banila Co. Clean It Zero ($17, Amazon.com)

3. Benton Snail Bee High Content Mask Pack

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

This sheet mask contains snail excretion and bee venom, two big ingredients the beauty world has been buzzing about for their anti-aging and skin soothing properties. Cleanse your face, then pop on this baby for 20 to 30 minutes.

4. Holika Holika Golden Monkey Glamour Lip 3 Step Kit

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Holika Holika Golden Monkey Glamour Lip 3 Step Kit ($6.64, Amazon.com)

5. Benton Aloe BHA Skin Toner

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

With aloe and salicylic acid — two ingredients that promise to soothe and clarify skin — this toner preps your face to absorb the moisturizer of your choice.

Benton Aloe BHA Skin Toner ($13, Amazon.com)

6. Too Cool For School Egg Cream Sheet Mask

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

This hypoallergenic sheet mask features the nourishing powers of egg whites and egg yolks and promises to reveal soft, healthy skin after 10 to 20 minutes.

Too Cool For School Egg Cream Sheet Mask ($16 for five, Amazon.com)

7. Acne Pimple Master Patch

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Ever had a blemish creep out a couple of days before a big event? We all know you should never (ever!) pop or pick at your skin, but you've never seen a fix quite like this. Rather than touching your skin with acne gels or spot creams, just stick one of these little patches onto your blemish to deliver the acne-fighting treatment directly. The best part: It's just five bucks.

Acne Pimple Master Patch (24 Pack) ($5, Amazon.com)

8. AmorePacific Treatment Cleansing Oil Face & Eyes

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Cleansing oil is a gentle way to easily remove your makeup — yep, even that stubborn waterproof eyeliner. Simply massage over dry skin, then rinse.

AmorePacific Treatment Cleansing Oil Face & Eyes ($50, Sephora.com)

9. Cremorlab Smooth Pudding

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Intended to seal in the maximum amount of moisture, this pudding-like cream is applied as the last step of your skincare regimen.

Cremorlab Smooth Pudding ($49, Amazon.com)

10. Dr.Jart+ Water Replenishment Cotton Sheet Mask

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

This hypoallergenic sheet mask is filled with ingredients like chamomile flower water and witch hazel extract, which promise to calm and hydrate skin after a 20 to 30 minute sesh.

Dr.Jart+ Water Replenishment Cotton Sheet Mask ($7.50, Sephora.com)

11. Benton Snail Bee High Content Essence

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

More snail secretion and bee venom for ya. They're said be gentle enough for sensitive skin — even in a concentrated form like this one, which also contains skin-plumping collagen for a full and healthy look.

Benton Snail Bee High Content Essence ($11, Amazon.com)

12. Konjac Cleansing Sponge

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Rather than scrubbing your skin with harsh, environmentally unfriendly scrubs filled with microbeads, try this gentle cleansing sponge enriched with charcoal instead.

Konjac Cleansing Sponge ($12, Julep.com)

13. Ladykin Elmaju Broccoli Radiance Power Cream

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

See? Your mom was right: Broccoli totally is good for you. Rich in the veggie extract, this cream promises to add elasticity to your skin when you apply it just before bed and let it seep in overnight.

Ladykin Elmaju Broccoli Radiance Power Cream ($20, Beauteque.com)

14. Caolion Blackhead Steam Pore Pack

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

With active charcoal, a derm-approved ingredient that's all over the beauty market these days, this mask exfoliates and claims to take on blemishes and clogged pores at the same time.

Caolion Blackhead Steam Pore Pack ($35, Amazon.com)

15.Vita Ampoule pH Mist

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

As its name suggests, this hydrating spray intends to restore your skin's pH balance in order to brighten and nourish it.

Vita Ampoule pH Mist ($24, Usdrg.com)

16. Mizon Snail Recovery Gel Cream

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

If you're ready to go all in on the snail secretion skincare, this is your best bet with a whopping 74% of snail extract plus hydrating hyaluronic acid.

Yay skincare post!

Of the things I've used on this list, those CosRX zit stickers are like black fucking magic on zits (tip: they work best if you lance/pop the zit before putting them on - gives the grossness inside a way out), HELL YES to the Benton masks and essence, I prefer the Purity or Radiance versions but Clean It Zero is amazing, and konjac sponges are squooshy and fun but a tiny bit too gentle for what my skin needs. The Mizon snail gel broke me out, though. :(

Try one thing at a time - I would definitely give each new item at least a week to let your skin adjust before you add on a new thing. The order you should follow is thinner consistency to thicker. Good luck!! And welcome to the dark side (yay for spending $$$$ on skincare)

Nice to see Benton repped so hard here! I've been using their Steam Cream as my main moisturizer for over a year now and my skin feels like a baby's ass tbh

Never used the Clean It Zero - I just use an Innisfree oil cleanser (Apple Juicy) and it gets the job done.

Can anyone rec me a good eye make-up remover? I'm currently using Clio's - I thought it would be good bc I love their products, but it's been really underwhelming :/ I use it and still need my oil cleanser to get the rest of my mascara out.

oh my god, i have been avoiding on buying any skincare for months since i need to save up money for other things.

i've been meaning to try that Dr. Jart+ Cleaning Water! It sounds really good.

anyway, has anyone tried Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence? I heard its a cheaper version of SK II Facial Treatment Essence. Can you give me any pointers about it? My online source has it on sale so I really want to try it!! ;A;

I love the original Missha FTE! But they reformulated it so I am afraid to try out the new one :( it's like $50 tho. I've gone through 3 bottles. Apparently Secret Key has one that's similar, so I ordered the limited edition rose one. It's like 1/3 the price of the Missha one.

Edit- the reformulated is the "intensive" one. I haven't heard bad things about it, I'm just personally reluctant since I liked the original so much

I need a good emulsion and a daily exfoliating product. I've been using Hado Labo Alpha Milk as emulsion, and it felt good on my skin, but it also doesn't agree with my ACV toner and Benton moisturizer.

The Banila does nothing for me. But I use cleansing water anyway which I much prefer over balms or oils. I hate feeling like I have to rub my face to get makeup off. I also still don't trust Benton so idk that I'll ever pick up their stuff again.

Guys after the last beauty post I bought the Moonshot jelly pots and just got them today. I LOVE them. So pretty and really pigmented!!

Anyway I also got a facial today so my skin is feeling radiant. Yay

I looked at some of the ingredients in some korean beauty products and a lot of them had a lot of fragrance/bad ingredients 😷 I also think that paulas choice is shady af but literally no one need 9 plus products they're right when they say u only need like 3/4 products

Date: 2016-03-06 07:40 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hana8796.livejournal.com
It kinda depends on the person/skin type though, there are people who have nice skin just by using 3/4 products and others who need more. Personally, my skin is dehydrated, so I can't just use one heavy moisturizer because my skin won't absorb it. Using a FTE, moisturizing toner, serum, and emulsion together is much more effective. And actives like BHA/AHA/Vitamin C have to be applied separately at different times, so you can't really condense everything into 1 product.

I love the Konjac sponges, but the Julep price is way too expensive. Sephora sells the sponges too, but they're even more expensive. Innisfree sells it for 4,000W. There might be a website that has it for those not in Korea. The sponge is very gentle and it doesn't feel like it's pulling at my skin like a washcloth or using my hands does. And they're natural and biodegradable.

dr jart microwater - really great liquid cleanser but ridiculously expensive jesus christ. you dont need a cleanser this expensive in my experience

banila co clean it zero - amazing cleansing balm that removes waterproof mascara like its nothing. the smell bothers me though, its got a weird fake laundry detergent smell imo. also i dont like balms in general, theyre greasy and messy

benton snail bee high content mask pack - its absolutely sopping wet with essence which i love. other than that just a standard moisturizing face mask

cosrx acne master pimple patch - these dont really do anything for me but i dont get whiteheads often anyway and when i do theyre usually hormonal so maybe that has something to do w it

I've tried practically everything on this list except for the Benton items and that one from TFCS. I need to pimp the Caolion pore pack like mad though because it is magic. It depends on your skin type but these are the ones I've tried (my skin type is dry btw) and liked:

MISSHA Super Aqua Renew Snail Cream - more of a gel moisturizer, very Hydrating. Has about 40% snail, forgot the exact number, I liked this a lot but wanted more snail hehe

MISSHA Immortal Youth Cream - one of the best anti-aging creams in Korea, apparently. VERY moisturizing so if you have oily skin you might not like it but maybe use it for winter season, maybe? Has a strong perfumey smell so this will turn you off if not your thing

ETUDE HOUSE Moistfull Aloe Soothing Cream - very rich and moisturizing, to the point that I avoid using it on summers

PRIMERA Alpine Berry Watery Cream - just the right amount of moisturizing, smells herbal-y and makes my skin feel really soft after waking up. I alternate this with the Immortal Youth cream as they're both on the expensive side lol.
