Slimeball Agency Director Arrested for Instigating Celebrity Prostitution Deals

On March 5, SBS News released a report about an entertainment agency director named Kang (41 years old) being arrested by the police for approaching female celebrities and instigating illegal prostitution.

According to the report, Kang learned about the difficult financial situation of a female celebrity referred to as “A” and lent her a great deal of money.

The police explained that Kang told A she could repay her debt by going to the United States and having sex with a businessman called “B.”

It has been further revealed that B had been introduced to three other female celebrities as well. It appears as though Kang has a history of taking advantage of female celebrities experiencing financial difficulties.

Currently, B is estimated to have spent 90 million won (approximately $75,100) for the four women including flight and hotel expenses.

Kang is also being investigated for his profits in instigating illegal prostitution. He previously served a jail sentence of six months on similar charges and went on to continue his celebrity prostitution deals after being released.

The police have apprehended a total of 11 individuals related to this crime and believe there are more female celebrities involved.

Currently, there is a lot of speculation regarding the identities of the female celebrities in question but nothing has been confirmed yet.

I hope so too! And I'm not sure. It depends on if her new company really supports their artists and does well in PR. With ailee it was considered a more chaste thing because she sent the pictures to just her boyfriend and they even had to have a recorded phone call as proof that he leaked the photos, plus she had a lot of fans backing her up. With g.na I'm afraid it will be harder since prostitution is officially considered a crime in korea. If she were a big name it would be easier to recover of course

Unfortunately women associated with prostitution are considered less than human by society thank to the judicial system and misogyny :/ and she definitely didn't hurt anyone. As long as protection was used that means no harm was done but the guy won't get sufficiently punished for being predatory unfortunately. It's so sad. I hope she can recover though. Maybe if her agency emphasizes the financial desperation part people will be more sympathetic to her, and they just try to promote her in other ways that don't focus on her boobs anymore

my memory of that case is a little fuzzy so i forgot akp was already considered trash before the scandal happened. i thought they backed ailee up bc she was "korean american" not "real korean" (i do remember that comment somewhere) so it was less of an issue than if a korean celeb's nudes leaked

What about the speculation on the men's identities?? Why can't netizens actually put their detective skill to good use? Where is the Korean Anonymous? Also these women will be victimized even further now by having a criminal record and poor finances. An article a while ago said that one of the issues is that women get less well paying jobs, so improve women's wages too if you want to reduce prostitution

There was an actress convicted of prostitution few years ago (the verdict was eventually overturned) and she was fined, no jail time.
