it's so sad because i'm pretty sure dots and come back ahjussi are ending on same day too, it's gonna be like this for the whole show. i wouldn't be surprised it dots hits 30% ratings within the next four episodes.

Date: 2016-03-05 01:16 am (UTC)it was literally a single long sentence, and then my dad calls me up and tells me to delete it and how he thinks i'm way too sensitive and has too much of a victim mentality about racism etc etc. i mean he says the same damn thing about sexism in both american and korean societies too so i'm not surprised but it's getting really annoying dealing with that - he gets really upset now when i openly disagree with his sexist bullshit about his female employees, too.
idk, it's my dad, and i like him as a dad, but i learn more and more about all this bullshit going on in the society and to see my dad being part of all the patriarchy and the injustice is just... gah.
actually it's annoying talking to my parents in general lately - they get upset when i don't call them everyday so i do and all we do is me talking about my day and then my parents pointing out how bad that is etc - like today only thing i told them was i went to a korean buffet after work by myself because i wanted meat and they think it's embarrassing for me to go to restaurants like that alone and it makes me look antisocial...? jesus all i wanted to talk about was how damn delicious it was, not about my personality. i didn't agree with them obviously and then they got upset and told me that i don't listen to my parents how do you even interact with people, you're a rude person and people won't just tell you that because they're trying to be polite etc etc etc

Date: 2016-03-05 01:36 am (UTC)I tried talking to my dad about the racism at the oscars too, and his response was that because white people comprise the majority of our society, they're bound to get more roles in Hollywood. I countered that non-white ppl need more opportunities and representation. But we just went around in circles and I realized it was better to just disengage. :/ I love my dad, he's a good parent and he's good to my mom, but it honestly baffles and distresses me that he doesn't get it.
I think it's awesome that you went and treated yourself to korean buffet after work. It's so annoying when our parents expect us to conform to traditional gender norms and can't seem to respect our individuality and our desire to be comfortable just being ourselves and by ourselves. I want to travel solo but my mom is so against it. Things between us got really tense for a few days back in January because we kept arguing about me wanting to go somewhere by myself. She doesn't think it's safe and doesn't understand why I'd want to go somewhere alone.
Family. Such complicated relations, really.

About us females, that will take time... for more than 1000 years males saw women as inferior, wont change that quickly. But I hope when u guys have kids, specially males, u teach them diferently. I kind of blame a lot the parents, they definitly sustain the idea that is ugly for a girl to date many guys, but is cool for a guy, boys don't need to help at home, that's women job, women only know how to spend money, bla bla bla, etc ...
Anyway, parents only do what they know, is a family thing, don't blame them too much, probally their parents teach them that way, just make sure u wont be like them in the future.

I'm slowly getting back into reading. First book on my list: Everything I Never Told You. Then I'm going to read Station Eleven, super excited!! I also have Crazy Rich Asians on hold.
I'm still figuring out what it is I want to do with my life. I started a social work program, but got so emotionally and mentally drained. The work is so meaningful and the people you meet are so amazing, but Idk if I can cope with it long term. I just don't know. So I'm looking for alternatives. sigh. This is my year off and I really hope I find something.

A really good teaching (esque) position came up near me and I've gotten /really/ favorable responses and they even called my references so I'm p much in and I couldn't be happier. Also, I caught up with a good friend of mine and she's down to see BAP with me in Dallas (again) AND I'm gonna see them in ATL afterwards.
This might seem like overkill, but I've literally not done anything fun for myself in ages and I've been so bummed lately that I couldn't stand passing this opportunity up.
Lastly, just for s&gs WJSN's Seola really resembles monsta x's Wonho. It's uncanny

If anyone's interested, LedT (former Ledapple) dibanded for good and Hanbyul signed with an agency and will have a solo album in April or May (I think? I know it's gonna be this spring).
Also, I'm a total mess ever since the last Saturday when there was History's concert in my country (Romania - Bucharest, 27.02.2016). If anyone's interested in finding out something, I can share (as much as I know) and there's a review on my LJ (with some fancams and stuff about the members).
I'm telling you, if you're not into these guys, give them a chance! They are freakin' amazing!
(Oh, and another information I got from inside the fandom, History is having a comeback this spring too!)
Also, I'm really happy! I'm going on a trip today and I'm coming back on Monday. XD I'm a bit too excited.
