SXSW:
(Austin, Texas)
The wildly popular K-Pop Night Out returns to SXSW for its fourth year, with KOCCA (Korea Creative Content Agency) bringing yet another diverse showcase of Korean music to The Belmont (305 W 6th St) on Wednesday, March 16. This year’s lineup includes R&B singer/producers Zion.T with The Session and DEAN, IDM/minimal house producer Haihm, K-Pop girl group Mamamoo, synth indie-rockers Love X Stereo, heavy metal worshippers/glam metal Victim Mentality, and more to be announced.
Love X Stereo will also be playing in the Culture Collide shows at SXSW on th 18th
Seoulsonic returns to The Majestic (419-B E 6th St) on Friday, March 18 for their seventh annual SXSW showcase with the breezy electro-pop of Neon Bunny, female post-rock trio Guten Birds, the Brit-pop embracing Bye Bye Badman, atmospheric electronic rock act HEO, reggae band Windy City, and electro-pop producer WYM.
(the SXSW picture above includes Big Phony, but doesn't say where he will be playing.)
CAAMfest in San Franscisco is hosting "Directions in Sound: Korean Showcase" with Big Phony, Love X Stereo, HEO and WYM on March 11th; tickets are still available.
Love X Stereo has turned to crowdfunding to make their new album -- their pledgemusic campaign has 13 days left and has not yet made goal.
Big Phony's Kickstarter just successfully ended, and given that it also worked for Stellar and Laboum, I suspect we'll be seeing a lot more of it from the indies/smaller companies.
Omona, are any of you going?
