Blast to the Past: WonderBang

WonderBang was a collaboration between two of K-pop's most promising stars at the time: Big Bang and Wonder Girls.This was back in 2007 when YG was still letting Big Bang leave the castle and collab with other artists. They performed a medley of "Lies" and "Tell Me", and the k-pop fandom lost their minds. From then on, there were more collabs between them, including another Special Stage at MBC's Gayo Daejun, a Grease performance, and a mini musical drama.

There were Toobin (TOP x Yoobin) shippers, SunyexTaeyang shippers, and don't get me started on the Hee-dragon shippers (GD x Sohee). There were countless fanfics, fansites, and fanvids dedicated to this collaboration. Before TOP's favorite dance move became the two step and YG decided to keep Big Bang away from other artists, we had WonderBang.

I love looking at kpop pre-hallyu. Their hair, makeup, and styling is just so different. While I'm sure being pale was considered a bonus back then as well, kids weren't whitewashed to death like they are now.

Ugh I miss collabs and groups doing proper covers of each other's songs. Award shows are shite these days.
I watched this on and on back then. I cannot for the life of me remember if I shipped anyone, though.

My favorite ships were Yoobin and TOP and Sohee and GD. However, I cringe now when I think of Sohee and GD. I lost my mind, when I found out they were dating. Sohee was barely 16 and GD was already 20. The fact that a 20-year old guy was dating a 16-year old girl is creepy. If they were dating now, both would be in their 20s, which would be fine. But GD has ever since turned into a mess and it's evident that he has a clear type (Sohee, Kiko, Krystal).

Instead I "ship" (I don't really like this word) Sohee and TOP, their awkward Reebok interview is adorable and their photos are gorgeous. Sometimes I watch their old MC cuts from Music Core. I would love to see them in a drama or movie together, but I don't necessarily want them to date.
