After an extraordinarily long promotion period for their last song Aalow Aalow, Laboum has announced their plan to comeback in April, using Makestar.co to crowdfund their next production.

The girls met their goal in less than 4 hours after the project opened on February 15th.

Laboum follows in the steps of Stellar who also used Makestar to crowdfund their mini album.

Some of the rewards:
- $165.30: a 'mini display figure' with all the members
- $247.90: invitation to the MV set + a photo session with the members on set
- $826.20: you get a personal fan meeting with the girls + a dinner with them (10 people have already bought this and it is now sold out!)

Makestar, writeup by me

omona what do you think of idols crowdfunding their comebacks?

They need a song that makes them stand out and all of them have been average girl group songs. I liked Aalow Aalow, but it's uninspired and doesn't give Laboum a unique sound.

also who tf would pay $800 for anything surrounding idols.

people have bought a member of a macbook once, gave taeyeon an iPhone 6S before it was even available in Korea, and people who spent over $1500 +on jessica's clothes
fans will do anything for their fave.

I know people spend a lot. I just can't imagine why.. but if you have money to blow... lol

Here's hoping for an After School crowdfunding.

You know what? I'd actually help them out, lmao.

That way they can get a much deserved (and probably final) comeback and Pledis can still waste their resources with Nu'Est.

This needs to happen.

this would totally be possible if pledis agreed to it. i think this makestar thing often asks "who do you want to see crowdfunded next?" or s/t and you can make suggestions.

i havent donated yet but like, its $25 (plus shipping ugh) but for a signed aalow aalow + their new single/album/idk so its worth it anyway =D

From: [identity profile] petecarl.livejournal.com
I kinda want to donate for that. that's a really great perk, and basically what I'd have to pay on yesasia or some other site anyway.

You get a signed Aalow Aalow with the $25 one? I only see the new album on my page.

From: [identity profile] sayuridoll.livejournal.com
I think it's worth it because at least you get something in return (a signed CD etc). It could just be like, gofundme and you not end up with anything.

without brown eyed girls are nega network that broke? But i love laboum and their age-appropriate non-sexual outfits and fun choreo with jokes in it i think theyre a really important group and its obvious why they get overlooked (imo) so im glad theyre not giving up and theyre doing their best to keep going.

everyone listen to their song fantasy its the best

I completely agree. this is exactly why i love the group, and i'm so sad that they're overlooked. i'm glad that their long promo for aalow aalow seemed to work, cause I've seen a few people start to take notice of them just b/c their promo on music shows went on for so long.

I think they have really cohesive style + can do cute in non pain inducing manner, but yeah, that not fully "conservative" one way or another mode and being from small comapny is where the reason for their unpopularity is sadly.

What I really like about them is the really nice line distribution, not a person with some one excuse of a line.
And they are really good live? Like not one member tends to struggle hard, I can hear everybody clearly, they've got
great quality in that department;)

i'm glad it was crowdfunded so quickly, but it's reminding me of the crowdfunding site for U-KISS with hair/dna samples. does anyone remember what i'm talking about?

Date: 2016-02-17 08:15 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lainmyownworld.livejournal.com
im pretty sure that wasnt actually legit

yeah, i figured the dna thing was fake, but was the entire attempt at crowdfunding fake? i wasn't into kpop during that era.

what an interesting idea. meeting the goal so quickly must've made them feel amazing! i think this is a great way forward for groups, but unfortunately there is the worry that it will further feed into people's entitlement and thus bad treatment of idols ("i paid this money so i deserve to stalk this idol" etc.)

It seems that Laboum's management also made nice packages, from signed copies to point of sharing a meal, no wonder they would meet their money goal so soon. Most of my faves are from biggest companies so they're fine, yet I would definitively pay to get a signed copy of two albums while helping them comeback. Sounds like a really good deal.

Hey, it worked for Stellar. They ended up making 4 times as much as their original target which must have made them feel great. Their comeback was really good too.
So long as the money gets used for stuff the fans are happy with it all works out

i think it's pretty great. i contributed to stellar's makestar bc i really like their music. i wish more of my nugu faves would do it.

i should get into laboum, they seem like a group i would like.

I've only contributed to one Makestar so far (and also the first time I heard of it) for Rania.. it was set for a January release but lol anyone who believed that at the point of donation is naive. I balked a little at $800 for Laboum, but then I thought about it and yeah I would pay that for Spica T_T

anyway it's awesome that they reached their goal so quickly! amazing support. do well, children!
