Fantagio’s New Boy Group ASTRO Reveals First Teaser and Logo

Fantagio’s upcoming boy group ASTRO has released their first teaser image, featuring the whole group lounging in what appears to be a high school hallway.

In addition, the company revealed the group’s logo and official color. The logo, with resembles a modified hexagram, was created by combining two triangles. The triangle shape was taken from the “A” in “ASTRO,” and the “A” in “All Fans.” The two shapes are then combined together to form a star. Lines were further removed so that neither shape could be removed from the other, symbolizing ASTRO’s connection with their fans. ASTRO also means “star” in Spanish, and their logo reflects the same meaning. Their official color will be a shade of yellow.

The group has been active in pre-debut activities since last year, and will be debuting on February 23.

Something tells me if they get backlash for the logo they would make a change, not before debut because is too late for that, but for a comeback and they would come up with another corny explanation of what it means.

"Un astro" in spanish is not specifically a star is more like any astronomical/celestial object (planets, satellites...). Not saying it to you OP, I know is in the source. I just wanted to make the clarification.

they should've used it as how Astro in spanish also means someone famous or from entertainment instead of star, it would've been more accurate.

estrella is more appropriate imo but maybe it sounded too "feminine"
I first wrote a comment about it but when I checked some dictionnary they said it was ok

Yeah I kinda wtf'ed a bit at that. The spanish word for star is "estrella". Astro is mostly used for planets/satellites like you said.

The redhead is Sanha. He's their maknae (a 00-liner o.o). The one standing up who is the tallest is Cha Eunwoo (stage name, real name is Dongmin and that's what most fans call him). He's a 97-liner and was on Golden Bell earlier this year. Actually, all of Astro showed up and they performed a song real quick but yeah, Eunwoo/Dongmin got a lot of attention because of his looks (he's also obsessed with minions to a terrifying degree).

If you want more info about them, let me know. I got pulled into them last year with their web-drama and I know far too much about them, more than I feel like I should -_-;;

Astro primer because whoops I got a little carried away...

Left to right:

Sanha, MJ, Eunwoo (Dongmin), Moonbin, Rocky (Minhyuk), JinJin

Leader: JinJin (also the shortest, second oldest, and 1/2 of the rappers)
Oldest: MJ (2nd shortest, vocalist)
Maknae: Sanha (can play guitar, had braces until about 2 weeks ago - he is a baby!)

Eunwoo and Rocky tend to get called by their real names more than their stage names. Real names are in parantheses. Eunwoo is obsessed with the minions from Despicable Me and was on Golden Bell earlier this year (got a lot of attention for his looks). Moonbin (also called Bin) is bffs with iKon's Chanwoo (they share a birthday and were both in TVXQ's 'Balloons' mv as mini-versions of the TVXQ guys). Moonbin is also the big brother of Sua from UPR2.

MJ is a 94-liner.
JinJin is a 96-liner.
Eunwoo is a 97-liner.
Moonbin is a 98-liner.
Rocky is a 99-liner.
Sanha is a 00-liner.

This isn't how it works how any of it works....They jumped the gun anyway on the giving a color and fan name you have to make it 90 days past debut geez. Good on them tho for pounding the pavement before hand.

You know you've really aged when you realize that Moonbin, the middle guy in the standing row, was Mini Yunho in DBSK's Balloons music video and even appeared with him in Star King back in the day. He's 18 now. But JFC in my mind, he's forever 9 years old.

LOL I was oing to write a huge post with their pre debut and drama stuff, but idk if I cba. I don't really mind the logo (and yes I am Jewish) mainly because it's not yellow? idk I'm colour blind but it looks white on a yellow background, however I can see why people would be offended and I think in the long run if they wanted international appeal maybe they should have rethought the logo.

I will admit that the first thing *I* thought of was that it looks very much like an upside down Star Trek TOS insignia, then I thought Star of David.

I'm not going to hate on the boys because I'm 100% positive they had no input into the design, and quite possibly wouldn't even know why its problematic.
