KBS World TV
paula, the german cheerleader, is very worldy (speaks five languages, has worked and gone to school in three diffrent countries) and all at 21. but it's not enough to overcome the black girl struggle of finding skin tone matching foundation :/ good god, rachel and will's meeting witht he old ladies on the beach was so embarrassing. how do you live in korea for 10 months and not know 'how old are you?' and 'it's hot'??? i like sangd's relationship with the old couple he's staying with, his excitement for his catch was adorable lol.
btw can we get a tag for this show?

Date: 2016-01-09 09:58 pm (UTC)I've watched some Black Youtubers talk about that, most either order online, which they said was hella expensive or stock up on it before they went. And I don't think she is all that use to doing makeup either since one of the girls helped her with her eyeliner I think it was.

Date: 2016-01-09 10:11 pm (UTC)idk why, but Rachel rubs me off the wrong way? I can't help but compare her to Sangd's and while he tries to speak Korean to the kids so they can understand each other (like the other teacher said, rules sometimes should be broken) she seems like she's just about to give her and that she's the one who's right and the others are wrong...idk, it's the impression I got.
The kid's reactions to Sangd's skin tone just shows how disconnected and unsensitive people can be. The kids aren't even trying to be mean, they just seem so surprised to see someone that isn't light skin that isn't on TV

Date: 2016-01-09 11:45 pm (UTC)yeah, rachel kinda irks me too. the fact that she (and her bf) doesn't seem to speak any korean, not even enough for a simple introduction, is not helping. like, the kids won't be able to follow the rules of the game if they don't understand what you're saying.
sangd played it off well with the oreo thing, but he had to feel a way about his naturally-occurring melanin being called dirt(y).

Date: 2016-01-10 06:41 pm (UTC)Rachel just looks a bit snob to me....like, it's hard to explain, but she gives me the impression that the others should learn her language and that she shouldn't bother to learn Korean since she's there to learn English in the first place.
Sangd looks like the sweetest guy and he seems really thankful for being there (again, I can't help but compare him to Rachel, and Rachel again looks snob while Sangd looks so humble) but I'm sure, that even knowing the kids comments weren't meant to be mean, hurt him in some way
