After sending off my paperwork to my hagwon's HR office I realized that I did my background check wrong and I have to do it over again. D: I have over a month before I'd like to be in Korea and I haven't even signed my contract yet because of all this paperwork non-sense. Why do I have to get an FBI check done /again/??? What kind of illegal shenanigans could I have been up to while I was bed-ridden with cancer??? /venting

In other news, I'm widdling down my things again so I can fit my life into two suitcases and two carry-ons. Hopefully, I'll get to go to Bundang.

this question will probably sound hilarious and it is even to my ears but i see people on omona constantly mentioning how they work/worked in korea but i think all of those comments are made by native english speakers who went there to teach english. so are there any omonians here not from english speaking countries who'd like to share some kind of advice on how to do something like that but not as an english teacher? every time i try to find anything on the matter i get ESL job offers :/

i did not go to korea on that, but i have a friend who did... he studied a bit of korean in advance, and in korea he did volunteering jobs and restaurant jobs. i'll try to get him to write something here maybe.

I have been feeling like a squashed potato half of the time, and the other half like a sleepy yeti ever since I came back from Korea. I won't even go into how ill I was upon my return. Why is Seoul so cold...

I've climbed loads of hills in search for very hidden temples, went up and down around Bukcheon and Ihwa mural village, and got my certification as completely cray after taking those long a*se stairs to Namsan Tower with a fever! I froze my bits off touring the royal palaces and shrines, and had loads of green tea latte everywhere. Went to myeongdong and gangnam much more often that I had initially planned and walked so much around everywhere that by now I know 40% of Seoul like the back of my hand so that's great!

Seoul was awesome, but also opened my eyes to reality. Living there is hard. My time as a tourist there was enough to show me that. Beautiful city, but there are some things you need to learn to live with... and not everybody can.

Now about JYJ. Junsu was as awesome as he'd been in Yokohama a few months ago, and I absolutely loved the Ballad cons. Wish I could say I won't be crazy enough to go there again, but I'm afraid I'm beyond salvation. Just one thing... Junsu-yah, let's meet the New Year after your enlistment together and not in the subway, ok? XD

The dating news came upon us out of nowhere, but I'm super happy for him, so yay! I've met some interesting people there, and finally got to meet some friends from twitter, I had the best of times spending time with them and my German friend who usually goes with me to JYJ's cons. Our next rendez-vous is Jae's comeback... which btw should definitely be held in Spring. I'm tired of travelling to Korea/Japan in Autumn/Winter. Like seriously...

I got loads of merch, and about 50% of it were very pleasant surprises from the friends I met there, so thank you! JYJ fans are awesome :D

I'm super excited about Chun and Jae's albums, but I wish they had released them earlier, so I could buy them while I was in Seoul like I did with the Ichigo Ichie DVD. Shipping costs are a birch. Yet I'm so happy about their releases, not even shipping costs or my tiredness could dampen my mood LOL

ok i typed a long comment but i accidentally clicked smth and lost all of it, wow

i start school (university) again next week and i was excited for it because it's a new year and a new school but now i'm just super anxious and dreading it. i stopped going to school for a semester (much to the disdain of my entire family) because i couldn't handle it and now i'm jumping back into it with a full course load (i'm either almost at or completely at maximum credits, nice) and a part time job. like why. why do i do this to myself.

also i am impatiently waiting for exo tickets to be released so i can buy my concert ticket and more importantly my /plane/ ticket to los angeles. i just want to have everything for this trip finalized so i can rest easy and get my stuff with school squared away so i don't miss assignments or exams.

but happy news! my korean penpal/online friend/kind-of-irl-friend and i are planning to go to nyc in december/january for new years! she's never been farther than the west coast and i haven't been to nyc in eight years so i'm super excited to go! i hope we can go otherwise we'll go a full year without seeing each other when i went to see her in korea last year and she came to visit me while i lived in vegas in 2014 :(

making a big decision/change doesn't help my anxiety at all, but I always try to focus on the reason why I decided to take this step and why I thought it was the best for me at the moment. helps me to ease my worries and go on. it's a constant exercise, but it's a little way that I found to try to deal with it.

I'm really impressed with how "six flying dragons" is keeping the high quality of its episodes. when I think they will slow down or something, they do something that have me screaming at the end of the episode. damn it...

1. News about debuts, comeback releases, dramas and variety.
2. Basically about what they're doing work related.
3. I got most from twitter (esp the fanbase accounts). I think the only news site I follow is soompi.
4. I think fanbases twitter accounts are pretty fast and updated with trans for international fans who don't speak korean. imo they're the best way to keep on track with your favourite korean celebrity.
5. Maybe more sites like soompi? maybe there are others and I just don't know them tho.. lol

Strange thing happened to me. Someone whom I befriended at uni came out to me some time before Christmas break. It was kinda sudden? Like we were talking about contraception (idk why tho) and they told me 'well homosexuals don't to worry' and I agreed. Then that person scribbled in their notes that her partner she talked about few times is actually not of opposite gender. I was taken aback really. I mean I don't really care who sleeps with whom, I still like that person as much as I did before. It's more that I still kinda can't believe that they trusted me so much. I guess they know I won't spread it out in our community and stuff. I kinda found weird they don't flaunt their relationship but I am not really into digging in people's lives so I can't say I suspected anything. They told me they don't want for people to know their sexuality since we have tons of many different people at our uni and not everyone is open...

I am an asexual and I am reculatant to come out. I have to urge to shut down people telling me to get a boyfriend with a quick revelation why I am not interested but that's just stupid? I mean why should I inform everyone, it just doesn't make sense? I keep it to myself but it sometimes feels like a burden. I think that person wanted to make that burden less heavy by coming out to me. I understand that, been there. Later on I told them I am not heterosexual either and honestly first time I felt okay while doing it, not guilty of being abnormal or anything. Usually I had to explain that I am not a plant but that time it was, overall, a better experience. I felt accepted - while my family and friends still think I am joking about being asexual.

Kinda funny that now whenever that person is talking about their partner they look at me with that 'we both share a secret!!!' look.

now, this is just my odd opinion and I have no relation to your experiences but sometimes I think parents don't have to understand 100%. e.g. I say things to them for years and years and they're not taking it in, they're lovely but t's just not getting to their heads - like being asexual, which is relatively new term for folks. I just won't argue about things that are clear to me, after I have given the info hundred times and still zero results. but we're still a family, even then when my parents are ooold and don't understand half of what I'm saying anyway, those things don't measure.
