CBS’s The Good Wife to be remade by tvN

Cable station tvN has snapped up another hit American TV show to remake into a K-drama (Entourage plans to air next year), and has confirmed procuring rights to CBS’s The Good Wife.

The drama premiered in 2009 to widespread acclaim, and is currently in the middle of its seventh season. Centered around the titular character played by Juliana Margulies, the show’s premise puts her in the aftermath of her state attorney husband being sent to prison following a sex scandal. She returns to her prior profession as a lawyer after leaving it 13 years ago, and the show follows her path of rediscovery as she also balances both her personal and professional lives. The show has been nominated for a whole slew of awards, with some key wins at the Emmys and Golden Globes.

The Good Wife’s remake will be directed by PD Lee Jung-hyo, who is definitely an experienced talent whose skills I trust after dramas like Heartless City, Witch’s Romance, Because It’s the First Time, and I Need Romance (an interesting mix, I always find). On the other hand, writing is Han Sung-woon, who adapted Israeli drama The Gordin Cell into KBS’s snoozy Spy.

The drama will premiere sometime in 2016.

I finally stopped watching The Good Wife out of loyalty and now tvN is remaking it???? It was becoming a mess, I hope tvN can do a better job. Who could you see fitting the role of Alicia and others?

I've been meaning to watch this but there are so many seasons already lol. Most of the time that's what stops me from watching any shows. I'm interested to see how tvn spins this tho. And Entourage, for that matter.

Like as I remember there were pair of teenagers, but just as a lead character's kids so no chance for some idol casting scandal bc "omg, idol got the lead!".

i've been following the good wife since the beginning and it's kinda sad how far it's fallen for me but the first 4-5 seasons were gold aside from some crazy/annoying plot lines. i'm a sucker for anything tvn so i'll def be checking this out when it airs. i'm curious how close to the original it'll be.

Semi OT but I'm currently watching High School King of Savvy and I finally saw the light!!! I now see Seo In Guk's full charm and I completely accept him as Omona's king!
My fave is still Lee Soo Hyuk tho omggg I've developed the most embarrassing crush on him! My T.O.P loyalty is being threatened rn!!! He is SO fine and so modelesque omfg I love him.

He is just such a good actor! I actually believe that he's an 18 y/o in the drama. He has great comic timing, he literally acts with this whole body and face, it's amazing!
Ugh, Lee Soo Hyuk... He is actual perfection. The way he carries himself is just amazing and maybe I'm just blinded by the crush rn but I feel like he's a good actor?? lmao yeah, I want to see him in more things!!

You have to watch it! Its one of the best drama for this year. It took a few episode to warm you but once the plot started, you cant stop lol.

It makes me discover the hidden gem that is Park Bogum. His acting was particularly spectacular and definitely the best actor in the drama despite he is actually the most inexperience among the casts. His sad, hurtful, creepy or angry expressions make the drama for me. I wanted to tell you more but I'm afraid it will took the pleasure of discovering the plots on your own. It just that, the drama title, the main song and the whole drama is basically about Seo In Guk's character with his brother instead of Jang Nara. Many people might mistaken about this but the whole drama is actually focusing on Seo In Guk and his brother.:)

idk how they're gonna justify the main lead's love line while she's technically married but separated. I feel like Korean audience might still be a tad too conservative for that? Like Valid Love and My Love Eundong got a ton of shit despite the drama explaining why it was okay.

I would've really really liked to see Kim Hye Soo doing this but since she's doing Signal soon she's probably out.

Its a very American thing, whenever high ranking politicians in the US get caught having affairs, cross dressing, using sex workers, etc etc, there is always a news conference, and there standing behind and slightly to the left is the wife, who stoically stands there while her husband confesses to his sins, whether she wants to be there or not, because it's the done thing, it's what a good wife would do, support her husband no matter what. For sake of appearances, and always always she is said to support her husband and is committed to working through whatever shitty thing he has done to their marriage.

Never understood why people think this show is getting worse. To me it's still really good, although it has some crazy moments once in a while. That said, I never wanted to see anyone attempt to remake The Good Wife. The show doesn't need it and there is absolutely no way the Korean version can be anywhere near as good. I predict a big hot mess. This anouncement is pretty much like a nightmare come true for me.
