Kim Hyun Joong and Choi FINALLY take DNA TESTS! Results coming IN ONE WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Both Kim Hyun Joong and his ex-girlfriend, known only as Choi, reported for court-ordered DNA tests today. The tests were ordered by the Seoul Family Court and conducted at Seoul National University Hospital in Jongno. Choi brought her three-month old son to be tested.

According to the Korean media outlet Sports Donga, the actor-singer and his ex would have been fined about $8,400 if they had not attended. There was some speculation that Kim might not be able to attend as he is currently serving his mandatory military duty in Paju. He took a short leave of absence.

Kim previously offered to take the paternity test through a private company but Choi rejected his offer, saying she could not trust the private company to be accurate.

Kim's lawyer Lee Jae Man released a statement on the tests.

"We hoped that the DNA test could be taken confidentially, however Miss Choi has announced the location and date. This is unfortunate."

Lee reaffirmed that his client will take full responsibility for the child if the paternity test proves that the child is his.

"The paternity of the child must be established before my client takes responsibility as the father. This is what he wanted. If the results say he is the father, he will of course take responsibility. If he is not the father, she will have to take responsibility."

Choi's lawyer, Sun Jung Moon said that he expects the tests to reveal that Kim Hyun Joong is the father.

"We are one hundred percent sure the tests will prove that Kim Hyun Joong is the father."

The test results will be available in about a week. The test results will end the speculation over paternity but not the ongoing lawsuits that the actor and his ex are engaged in.

In 2014 Choi charged Kim Hyun Joong with four charges of assault, eventually dropping three of them. Kim denied the three charges of assault but was fined for the remaining charge. Choi and Kim reached a financial settlement which required that she never speak of the charges again.

The couple reunited and vacationed together. They broke up and in January 2015 she announced she was pregnant. The child was born in September.

Choi is currently suing Kim for psychological damages that she suffered as the result of a miscarriage allegedly caused by the 2014 assault incident. He is counter-suing her for discussing the assault case.

I'm glad they took the test in the same facility under supervision, so there can be no question of tampering or substituting someone else's dna to get out of the obligation. I'm still amazed that a positive paternity lest does not automatically mean court-ordered child support until age of majority in SK.

As for the gold-digger claims, single mothers who aren't wealthy have a hard time finding jobs. How would Choi be able to support the child if KHJ doesn't pay up? It's child support, not (p)alimony. He didn't seem too worried about knocking her up when he was having unsafe sex all this time and joking about switching to anal vs. putting on a damn condom - let alone hitting her. etc.

In india the alimony afforded to wives are pittance, like i know of a case where the husband earning 75k inr had to pay 2k for the maintenance of his two kids for his divorced (unemployed wife) but legqlly illegitimate children can claim property under hindu law.
