Oh My Girl Detained at Los Angeles Airport for Over 7 Hours, Returns to Korea

Rookie girl group Oh My Girl has reportedly been detained at an airport in Los Angeles.

A representative of their agency revealed on December 10, “The members of Oh My Girl departed for the U.S. on December 9 to prepare for their new album. But as far as we know, they have been detained at the airport for over seven hours.”

“The members of Oh My Girl and their staff successfully passed through immigration, but it appears that their filming equipment and outfits for the album jacket shoot have become a problem. Apparently there has been a misunderstanding during the customs inspection. We are trying to find out what exactly has happened.”

Meanwhile, Oh My Girl debuted in April and followed up in October with their second mini album and its title track “Closer.”

WM Entertainment has stated that after being detained for 10 hours at an airport in Los Angeles, they have just decided to book the next flight back to Korea. In regards to completing the album jacket photoshoot, which they went to Los Angeles for, “After the members return home, we’ll organize again,” stated the agency.

aghhh this makes me so angry because i would hate hate hate to travel for 10 hours only to be held at shitty lax for another seven hours and return back home in another 12 hour flight UGH

i once got held up at lax as well, they were asking where i lived and what my occupation was, even though i had a green card with me. the customs might have thought these girls were trying to move in illegally, happens often when you have shit ton of clothes with you.

actually you know what, i'm just speculating but if they had shit ton of clothes with them and got visitor visa instead of work visa (which is the one they would've needed if they were shooting mv stuff) the customs might have gotten suspicious and denied entry because of that - since it looks like the members and the staff themselves passed immigration. idk, if that's the case it's a shitty mistake on the agency's part. yikes, ~30 people's worth of tickets from lax-icn... agh.

Most likely their luggage didn't pass it was probably pulled and inspected fully and MAYBE then their paper work wasn't in order for what they wanted to do.
No they didn't leave, they were prob requested to standby while their stuff is checked out.
I don't think people can just come in pass Immigration and leave your stuff for them to check out. I think they need you there for questions.

well /shrug/ if i were their management i will leave 1-2 staff who manage the logistic and let everyone else to rest if it's possible.

it reminds of my friend's story. her brother works for a promoter and apparently SM brought a washing machine for SNSD lol. it wasnt in their agreement and of course caused a problem in the airport. and it's the promoter who had to deal with it.

After I replied I thought, maybe their crew should have came in a few days before to give time to clear make sure nothing was funky then the girls fly right in and get to work.
Still messy all around money wasted, lesson learned.

Filming equipment would not be part of hand luggage. It is too heavy and can also be seen as possibly dangerous. 7kg is the maximum per person except in business/first class. They passed through with hand luggage, but the rest didn't. They would have to wait for that after passing through.

lol don't worry i've flown a few times before. the point is they could've let 1-2 their staff who actually had the job to deal with it stay at airport. those props are not the girls belonging/responsibility. i've heard case like this before and the artist could left the airport with no problem.

I wouldn't be suprised if they were detained because of lack of proper visas, there were stories of agencies getting in trouble in USA because they didn't have work visas (e.g. WG)?

Yeah, I think that's the most probable cause. I'm pretty sure that if they have a tourist visa only then they're not allowed to do anything business-related.

i haven't flown internationally in a while, but would immigration include customs? they could have gotten past immigration but then got held up bc they had a ton of clothes/supplies that looked like they were trying to import stuff illegally?

I literally had to wait ONE hour to get out of the airport cause there were so many people, we had to form this line and wait for our turn to exit the airport even if we had all of our stuff already and passed all the security checks. It was just a stupid line to get out of the airport omfg

all I remember from LAX is that someone took my suitcase by mistake and they ask me to wait at another city which I was going to and hope that whoever took my suitcase will return it. In the end I got my suitcase back but couldn't they just check whoever own the other suitcase and check if they got my suitcase!?

Oh damn... sounds like a lot of money wasted :( I feel sad for them, having a twelve hour flight to be stuck in the airport and back to Korea...
The good news in this is that they're working on a new album! which will probably be delayed but this kind of things happen :/
