tl;dr: they're issuing refunds to all tastes that haven't been claimed for perks. all artists all cities. there is no option to keep the taste.

"Since the EXO city announcement, we were dismayed to see so many accusations directed towards our company. While we understand the disappointment that certain cities were not selected, we will not tolerate baseless accusations made toward our company or our employees."

is it so hard for them to just remove this like why

they said they're looking into the randomly generated personas but they still haven't said anything abt that so it's not exactly "baseless"

and then the add-on abt Atlanta STILL doesn't clarify anything like what's the point if they're "working hard" but something at a lower stage/with lower progress still makes it lmao goodbye @ this company

That ridiculous ass ending. So y'all didn't encourage desperate fans and fill them with false hope to get their money for concert dates that were already planned in advance? That's "about money" to me.

mte, there's literally no chance that these dates weren't already chosen in advance. You don't negotiate booking for a group like EXO in a week.

They have a forum, but it isn't really updated and it's sort of hard to find.

sigh, these things always happen. complaints, blame, unsatisfied people. i mean, these event planners are trying to bring a huge group to do a concert in a big city. like they said, there's many factors and they're the middle people in negotiations.

im still taken aback at how many kpop concerts happen nowadays. back then, there was only one really. every year, same place. no complaints.

idk. its good and bad.

I've noticed a lot of this happening (like the BTS show in ATL) where it just falls to pieces. What do you think is the main cause for it?

I think these korean companies aren't doing their research or working with reputable organizers when planning these concerts. mismanagement at it's finest.

Of course the money people put into it is a real issue and it's really good that they're refunding them, but not addressing the fake accounts in the official statement? Mmmkay. I always knew this was a scam, but it's on another level.

SHADY SHADY SHADY. It's obvious these guys are trying to give the appearance of having something to do with allowing an audience to have a say in how a tour is constructed, while making money from that hope. At best they might be trying to sell their results as "marketing research" to actual promoters or companies involved in the real decisions. At worst they are completely out of the loop and can just claim that the real decision makers decided what they wanted to do regardless of who voted for what on the Taste site. How would the voters know anything other than what they were told?

You know how a real tour comes together? First, whomever wants to bring over an overseas act has to cover transport and accommodations for artist and staff and equipment rental at a minimum, plus work to get all the visa paperwork done. Then they have to pony up a guarantee, upfront money that is basically the appearance fee for the act to be in the venue regardless of how many tickets are sold. That way the act will get paid no matter what happens. The promoter ALWAYS assumes the risk of losing money by not being able to recoup those initial costs. Thus, the promoter seeks to put the act into size-appropriate venues at the highest price people will pay per tickets to make back the overhead plus some profit. Fans in a city saying "I'll go!" might be nice if as many as will fill a local venue reply, but there are so many other factors - venue availability during the time period, other commitments the act may have in the country, possible sponsorships, union issues, travel logistics from city to city... believe me, fans just saying "I know if X come to My City we could fill Local Theater" cuts no mustard.

There is one exception, and that is if the act already has funding to come to a country because of another circumstance, like a private or corporate gig. An act can try to do a few local shows in the same city they are contracted to perform in since their airfare and lodging are already paid, but it's a very limited circumstance and there still needs to be a promoter to be a partner in the venue/ticketing/promotion part of things.

This! You explained it all so well. Unbelievable how K-pop events have created this distorted view of how events are supposed to happen, and the entertainment companies are just adding to it by continuously going along with these scam artists. I'm sure their events in Korea aren't thrown together like this?
