UPDATE 2: REFUNDS
tl;dr
- There are fake accounts voting for some of the cities that were announced on the tour
- Speculation that they were made by MyMusicTaste
There are also these paid votes called "Taste" which you buy for $10. 1 Taste per user per artist per city. The taste is locked in for 6 months, and if a concert hasn't happened by then you get the taste back to use elsewhere on the site. You don't get the actual money back. Atlanta fans apparently spent $4000USD on tastes.
UPDATE: With ~Insider Info~
- more claims that the whole thing was rigged
What is even going on

Date: 2015-12-08 03:28 am (UTC)this has to have been a big marketing ploy to make sure there was buzz around the concerts. i'm as sure as everyone else that they had the stops already planned out before hand

Book actual promoters that have a good track record of organizing successful events, and not just K-pop fans masquerading as professionals. Afaik Big Bang went with Livenation who also put on tons of other big concerts, but they're not the best group to use as a comparison for most of these events.
It's a global problem though, people are not just getting shafted in the States. Europe is is just as bad if not worse and I've heard about total disasters happening in Australia as well.

Date: 2015-12-08 04:18 am (UTC)I still feel bad for the people who spent money.
I didn't have no $10 to hopefully get Exo in SF when I know these ticket prices might be high.

Date: 2015-12-08 05:45 am (UTC)It does seem like the locations were pre-decided though so it's a bit suspect to encourage fans to campaign and buy $10 tastes when they aren't having any impact on the end results anyway. I know that Vancouver had the most makes out of all cities at the time they announced the tour last week, but were falling behind until just before the end. I'm not surprised to hear that there were probably false makes/tastes added because I was already wondering how that were going to ensure that the cities they had decided on and the cities fans voted for lined up.

"Since the EXO city announcement, we were dismayed to see so many accusations directed towards our company. While we understand the disappointment that certain cities were not selected, we will not tolerate baseless accusations made toward our company or our employees. We always strive to give you the best and will continue to improve our services to give you the most memorable concert experiences."
bit rich of them to get all uppity when the fact remains that it was still rigged, refunds aren't going to change that fact

Date: 2015-12-08 07:27 am (UTC)after six months, if the concert hasn't happened you get back that taste to use again on the site, you don't get the money back.
in that sense, the refund is actually really good for all the people who may have bought tastes in the past and not been successful.
it sucks for the people who were in the winning cities (even though idk what the perks are that are worth $10) but mmt is mainly doing this to be an asshole and maybe even start an infight so that people forget how this thing was rigged from the start

Date: 2015-12-08 09:25 am (UTC)I don't think I would care as much about the money issue if it wasn't for the huge possibility that the majority of those who lost all that money were teenagers/young adults. Liike, scamming kids out of their money is such a shitty move. But honestly what did they expect like the entire thing looked suspicious from the start lol.
Kpop companies need to do a better job of organizing overseas concerts. It's like only 1 in 10 acts that come here actually don't end up being god awful. Stop trying to cut corners with money and actually do your research?? Idols have no obligations to perform overseas but if you say you're going to do it then do it right?
