SM's newest boy group will reportedly be debuting to follow the footsteps of TVXQ, SHINee, and EXO.
Word around the streets of stock companies is that SM Entertainment is ready to release a new group, most likely a boy band. Based on the fact that SM is a listed company with an active IR, many speculate that rumors coming from stock companies are creditable.
A SM representative, too, proved these rumors to be true, saying, “Yes, we are preparing a new boy group,” though no details were further released.
SM has already been preparing its next group through SM Rookies and has trained the members on how to be on camera by starring them in cable shows. These SM Rookie members are already well known to the public and have their own fan clubs. Many are saying that the new boy group will mainly consist of those from SM Rookies.
SM has also been known to release a new boy group every four years. Other than Super Junior debuting in 2005, TVXQ (2004), SHINee (2008), and EXO (2012) all have four years in-between each group’s debut. This is most likely SM’s systematic approach to the market, determining that four years is the most appropriate time for a group to reach success and a new trainee group to be properly coached.
The new group will most likely reach for the best concepts and music because of its SM title. Fans are eager to see what kind of new group will be released to open up the fourth generation of idols.

H.O.T fall out bc members couldn't reach agreement/SM only wanted selected ones to stay. It was in 2001.
That Black Beat thing wasn't even a proper group i think.
So when DB5K came to the picture the castle was totally empty and since then (Kpop international explosion&some real cash eventually reachable) everybody are clinging there (also the contracts got longer, SM quckly learned not to repeat that Shiniwa mistake)

I think Yuta is quite good as well judging from his pre-debut (and pre-SMent) videos. Ten seemt to have improved quite a lot since his Teen Superstar days but SM will rather push him as a dancer than vocal.
I can't really judge the others because they haven't really sung anything yet...
Maybe that unknown rookie (Jungwoo) will be another great vocal so if they add him they should be good I guess
