And finally this lucid moment. “I am.” When on , Jung Hyung Dong jokingly accuses him of putting truffle mushroom, caviar, and foie gras in his fridge “to look cool and classy,” G-Dragon laughs a bit, and says this line, distinguishing himself from all others. What really is “cool”? As the answer to this question, G-Dragon stands on stage, in front of the camera.

G-Dragon was featured on Esquire Korea’s MEN OF OUR TIME Article in their latest November 2015 issue.

He was the only male idol to make this list of 20 people. Although the title of the article was indeed “MEN” OF OUR TIME, the list includes powerful and culturally impactful women. It is no surprise that a prominent fashion icon and musician like G-Dragon has made this list. Also on this list include George Clooney, Lee Minho, Park Jisung, and Angelina Jolie.



The magazine states, “Over the years, he has naturally developed as a musician and a ‘style icon’. At the young age of 13, he was discovered and signed on to YG Entertainment. After 7 years of living as a trainee, G-Dragon finally debuted in the group “BIGBANG”. This led to the G-Dragon that we know today, with his impeccable fashion sense and musical ability. He spent his teen years as arguably one of Korea’s best dancer, musician, and stylist, and is spending his current 20s as a world-wide superstar. The fortunate situations he was placed in, combined with his undeniable talent, were enough to place G-Dragon as an icon of the 21st century. One who does not recognize G-Dragon’s talent basically is not recognizing K-Pop as a whole as a movement. G-Dragon has the power to create trends with his music. If one thinks that the music G-Dragon is not “good”, they also feel the worry of falling ‘behind the trend’. People even wish to imitate G-Dragon’s quirky fashion sense. His cocky facial expressions and poses seem “cool”. G-Dragon gives off a Seo Taiji vibe during Seotaiji and the Boys’ ‘prime time’. Such a celebrity with this much power over culture cannot be found often, and those who encounter him are extremely lucky to have done so. G-Dragon is a nationally recognized fashionista with famous designers including Mina Kwon listing him has their inspiration. Undoubtedly G-Dragon earned this spot on the MEN OF OUR TIME and we hope to see G-Dragon’s influence grow on Korea even as time goes by.
