✨🌟✨🌟✨🌟✨🌟✨🌟✨🌟✨🌟✨🌟✨🌟✨🌟✨🌟✨🌟✨🌟✨🌟✨🌟

Mnet’s “Unpretty Rapstar” created “Crazy Dog” Yezi (22). Offstage the overpowering gaze and attitude are completely dropped. She even dressed nicely and gave a 90 degree bow. Underneath the monster “God Yezi” is just a 22 year old girl. There were no awkard moments in the conversation and she left you hanging on to each word much like her rap. It seemed like we hit it off. But this girl is far from ordinary. She’s the real deal.

✨🌟✨🌟✨🌟✨🌟✨🌟✨🌟✨🌟✨🌟✨🌟✨🌟✨🌟✨🌟✨🌟✨🌟✨🌟

Q: Unpretty Rapstar is finally over. Are you satisfied with the results?
A: Of course (I am). From the beginning my goal wasn’t to win. Before the final stage my only thought was “No matter what, I need to make the whole audience go crazy.” I was focused on having fun. The results don’t matter too much to me. All it means is that those who voted for me enjoyed my performance. That was the goal.

Q: You were saved from permanent elimination through your performance of “Crazy Dog”. After it aired “Crazy Dog” was high on the trending searches for a few days. How did that make you feel.
A: Of course it made me feel really good. I’ve been a no-name (singer) for a long time. I debuted 4 years ago and this is the first time I’ve seen myself as #1 on the trending searches.

Q: The “Crazy Dog” performance was perfect from the gaze, to the flow, to the lyrics, all the way to the beat. What made you choose that beat?
A: Actually, the beat is called “Crazy Dog”. As soon as I heard it I wanted it to be mine. (Smile) I thought it was just perfect to tell my story over. I just wanted to tell my current situation. It let me release a lot of pent up anger.

Q: There must be a lot of pressure when you’re on a survival show stage by yourself.
A: Whenever I’m preparing to perform, I spend a lot of time (perfecting it). I do it and re-do it every night until I work out all the kinks. Because of that I never really felt pressured. This is just another chance to practice

Q: The show really gave you a “fierce” image.
A: I found that out from watching the show. I think “fierce” is only one of many sides I have. I’m pretty okay with it. Some people saw that and thought I looked fierce. When I saw it I thought I looked crazy. (Smile) That’s really not how I am normally… I swear.

Q: Then what is your normal personality?
A: I’m the kind of person who says what they mean. I don’t say anything I don’t mean. Is that ”fierce”? (Smile) But I always try to listen to people. Even though I go through life with unwavering confidence, I need other people’s opinions to help me improve. (this diplomatic queen!)

Q: So when you did the diss battle, did you ever really feel angry (with the other person).
A: No, really never. The diss battles are just missions just like the solo raps were. It’s a show. There’s nothing to be upset about (@Turdy tbh). I’m a person who had a lot to lose by doing this show, I can’t show my abilities if I’m caught up in the emotions of it.

Q:Do you practice your expression, gaze and gestures?
A: I don’t practice any of those. When I practice I just rap. When I’m on stage I don’t really know what my face is doing. I surprised myself when I saw it.

Q: So the diss lyrics didn’t phase you at all.
A: No, not at all. I’ve had time to face the reality of my situation. It’s kind of an advantage that I’m not well known. For example, if someone tells me “you all haven’t done some well” i respond with “that’s correct”. Because it’s the truth. I’m not a recognizable person. Before the diss battle with Sua I told her “you’ll need to come harder than that”. Maybe that’s why I won. (oop lmaoooo #humblebrag or #humbledrag? let's decide omona)

Q: From the beginning of the show it seemed like you didn’t really have any emotions, but your ability to deal with crises is amazing. I think you ave a really strong mentality.
✨🌟A: My personality has changed over time. When I was a trainee, I was nervous too. There aren’t a lot of things that haven’t been hard for me. My debut was like that, and having to sing and rap was hard too because I didn’t have confidence in my abilities. I’ve met a lot of nice people, and I’ve met a lot of people who have hurt me too. But you learn from everything that happens to you. That taught me that i just need to be better instead of being afraid. Being afraid and worrying will only leave you worse off. You’ll just keep worrying about everything forever. There’s no point. I try not to dwell on things. That gives me more time to think about more productive things.✨🌟

Q: Are there any celebrities you’re close with?
A: I’m close with some of the unnies from this season of Unpretty Rapstar. KittiB unnie, Gilme unnie, and Soomin unnie (to be specific). I’m also really close with EXID’s Solji. I’ve known her for a really long time, since she was in 2NB.

Q: Yezi’s raps are really hard hitting, especially your diss raps.
A: Before the diss battles, I closely analyze the other person. And not by searching online or anything like that, just based off of my own experience with that person. Then I just write what I feel. I’m not doing it to make them feel bad, it’s just a battle between two rappers.

Q: Honestly, you were in quite the ambiguous situation. You weren’t an idol with a huge fandom and you weren’t a rapper who had spent a lot of time underground.
A: When i saw myself not being able to clearly hear what people were saying it made me frustrated, so I know it must have been frustrating for other people to watch. (Smile) The thing is, I couldn’t do/say anything to defend myself. It’s not like I wasn’t acting a certain way. I think starting from that position just gave me a better chance to show who I am.

Q: During the first half of the show, its seemed like no one had anything nice to say about Yezi. The editing was a bit unfortunate.
A: I actually did get some compliments (at that time). It just never made it onto the show. I just think there was no point in putting that stuff in. It wasn’t an unfortunate thing. I’ve seen Unpretty Rapstar 2 three times, and each time i saw myself differently.

Q: Who do you think is the most skilled out of all the participants?
A: KittiB unnie. When I saw R.R.F (Ronda Rousey Flow) I felt like I wanted to do something like what she had done. It was really cool. The lyrics were amazing too. You can tell she put a lot of effort into that stage. You could see it in her performance.

Q: What musician would you like to collaborate with?
A: San E oppa. He’s a senior that I like, but whenever I listen to his songs I think “I wanna be on this song too”. I’d like to do a show with him also.

Q: I can tell that you’re full of confidence both on and off the stage.
A: My self-esteem has always been high. But there have been times when people made me think less of myself. It’s not always about humility. Who will trust me if I don’t trust myself? When I was filming Unpretty Rapstar 2, I asked for a lot of advice, but I didn’t really receive much from anyone but the other participants. So I just decided to do what I wanted to do. So I’m pretty cool about everything, even when I get cursed at.

Q: But wouldn’t that upset your family?
A: My family isn’t really worried about it. They’ll only become worried if I’m having a hard time because of it. Because of that, I just don’t use the internet.

Q: What were your members and the company’s reaction?
A: My company kept asking me “what are we supposed to do about the first two episodes” and “what are you gonna do”. Hahahahahaha. Because the unnies know my personality well, they just kept supporting me. I think this program was just right for me.

Q: When will be able to see Fiestar on stage?
A: We’re planning to have a comeback very early next year. We’ve done a lot of concepts up to this point. It’s just that we were never a hot topic. (Smile) The unnies, the company and I have been worrying about this comeback for a long time. Please give it a lot of support.

Q: Because you always wore dark clothes on the show, I never noticed how pretty your body is. What’s your secret.
A: Try joining Unpretty Rapstar. From the filming and preparing I lost about 5kg. After it ended, I’ve gained about 2kg back from celebrating with the unnies and the staff buying desserts.

Q: Last question, what is Unpretty Rapstar to Yezi?
A: An opportunity for me to show what I have inside of me? I haven’t shown everything, but I think I’ve shown enough to get people’s attention. A “crazy thing”? Hahahahahahaha. I’ll play really well!

I really need her solo now. And I know Fiestar needs to happen too, but tbh everytime they come back Yezi sometimes gets shafted for the ~prettier members~ like Jei. I just want them to really take advantage of Yezi's popularity because Yezi/Fiestar deserves it. They've been serving good bops for so long....

ITA. jei is such a bad face for the group b/c even tho she's pretty she has no personality. yezi is so damn distinguished and has great presence. their label would be FOOLISH to let this opportunity go. yezi deserves it. fiestar deserves it. WE deserve it.
