ugh this show..the family moments just continue to tug at my heart, i love how it's all written out and the character development is amazing. i'm happy everyone is getting their fair share of screen time, adults and kids alike. i mean, i'm even starting to like bo ra..

by ep 3 i was already off the sunwoo ship and a 100% love with junghwan so i thought i could just sit back and enjoy the show (and thank god bc i didn't want to get my heart broken) but what kind of bait and switch???? like the minute sunwoo confessed to them he had a crush for two years i knew it was bora. so now i'm back to square one and conflicted again... i don't want taek to get his poor heart crushed 😭

also i love their friendship???????

i mean, everyone is everything in this show. but junghwan, esp in the last 2 ep, is extra everything. he's so cute with his crush and i don't even wanna root/bet on anyone but guh junghwan pls be the end game. everybody else, stay precious.
i'm also waiting for the show to talk more about dongryong and his family bc we've never seen it except his dad. and curious/hoping to see how jungbong evolves. i mean, they can't let him stay like that forever... right? oh yeah, i hope taek is not really in the running for the future husband. read some interesting comments in dramabeans, i hope that happens instead.

dongryong is one of my fav characters!! his scenes with junghwan (when he advised him about his mom) and his scene with taek were so good i need more

one theory i read is that taek ask DS to go out w/him bc it's the cliche thing to do, asking a girl to a movie, and since he doesn't really understand anything else besides baduk, he did that. and he asked DS bc she's the only girl i know. i really hope that's what happen anyway, bc ugh PLEASE DON'T MAKE HIM FALL FOR HER AND GOT HIS HEART BROKEN PLS~

TBH if I could write it I would make him the second romantic interest (just to see more PBG all up on my screen, that boy is FIIIIIINE and does angst really well).

And THEN pair him up with like a famous idol/actress because he's like a male Baduk Queen Yuna. It would be like the idol/actress likes how he doesn't fawn over her etc. but that's like a separate cray cray romcom (I'd watch it though... PBG <3) that doesn't really fit the Reply series. BUT it would be pretty cool to then have a 40-something actress cameo as herself on the show... just saying.

love this show sm, recced it to my mom bc this was exactly her time. the bus parts were so true to the stories she told me abt getting to school djbfhfj, right down to the kid with steam* on his glasses and ppl falling off the bus..
am really excited to go home and watch the next two eps together with her over thanksgiving break :')

The making clip of the swearing scene is so funny.

Sunwoo cancelled tbh theres nothing likable abt Bora. Hyeri's rejection was so relatable and well-done I'm so proud of her.

I'm gonna marry Taek so I guess I support JungSeon ^^. I thought the family scenes were so good but I'm still curious abt Taek's dad, I wonder why hes so awk lol.

Yeah, I mean people are saying shes just ~passionate older sibling~ but...the yelling at EVERYONE and the violence... christ. Sunwoo seems like that guy though, he reminds me of Alex from GA always stuck with someone awful and they somehow find it "endearing".

Thats tru tho, I'm just hoping they progress out of that like Junghwan's family seems to have progressed.

He is so cute. I genuinely liked this guy in the Korean adaption of Nodame so seeing him as a second male unrequited love again in Reply 1988 makes me a little sad. I loved the episode when his friends tried to cheer him up and he cursed awkwardly lol.

I'm a little sad to see him play second romantic lead again but Nodame got him work pretty quickly. Besides, Chilbongie played second fiddle in 1994 and look at him now!

Reply 1997 will probably always be my fav (minus the romantic stupidity) but I think this is the tightest of the series so far. I'm not sure if it's because we have more families to help support the main one, but everything just works. I'm impressed and I love the characters.

i thought they were gonna disappear~ bora bc of the protesting, i am glad they didn't. i don't need the extra tragedy already. i weep like every episode from everything else lmao

i love junghwan's mom. she's hilarious.
and i also love everyone. this series is so great. for 94, i was always waiting for the long ass episodes to end but for this one i just want more. hopefully it stays that way.

sidenote, dramafever's blurring is so annoying. i understand licensing and whatnot but it seems arbitrary. like they blurred the spines of some books in an earlier episode, but none of the books in sunwoos room were blurred. like wtf.
and they blurred the korean stamp, i can't get over that one. bc its a gov stamp and korea wants to be exported. so why ????

when it was between sunwoo and junghwan, i was #teamjunghwan all the way but idk man, taekie is so sweet that i can't bear to see his heart being broken T____T

at least it's fair game atm (unlike 1994 .___.), since deok sun doesn't seem to like either of them lol. but i think it's fairly obvious the husband is JH unless Taek is suddenly bringing out a new side of him? And judging how in the latest ep she does mention the numerous girls he's dated before marrying her makes me guess that she'll date taek, JH is heartbroken and becomes a ~player~ but they live happily ever after.

......and i said i wouldn't be so invested this time round.

I've fallen head over heels for Junghwan. Taek is the cutest too though. i don't want either to be heartbroken. The writers better not pull-off a love line for the non-husband only in the last minutes of the show - only to have the nameless person resemble the main female lead - like they did to Chilbongie! (in that sense R1997 did a much better job w/ the doctor girl).

This season is the best though. I love all the family interactions, friendly bonds and day-to-day story developments.

Reply1994 broke me. I wasn't looking forward to 1988 AT ALL. But (since I have goldfish memory and can't really remember 1997) 1988 might actually be my favourite. I like how much spotlight everyone (except Dongryung's family I guess) is getting -including the parents. I pretty much cycle between bawling my eyes out or squeeing my heart out.

I was so frustrated by Reply1994 but Reply1988 is so well set up that I feel like I can relax and just let the show take me where it wants to go. Obvs Junghwan is endgame, and I'm totally on board, but now that Taek is in the mix (not really surprising - PBG is love) I know the Reply series is going to tear out my beating heart again, stomp on it, shove it into a meat processor and scatter it in the ocean - AND IM SO READY. BRING IT 1988, BRING IT.

Also, can I just say that I love all the characters? No one's really bad, Junghwan's mom can seem snobbish at times but then she's totally sweet to her ahjumma gang and needs her family to need her. Bora's crazy and over the top (I think they're toning it down though, she's not as bad as the first ep) but she still cares... she's like a more prickly tsundere in comparison to Junghwan. I freaking love that kid.

AND AND AND last thing: Hyeri's really good in this. I'm super impressed. Reply's casting is so on point I don't even know why I was nervous. She's great and has a different flavor in comparison to Eunji.

yesss i just finished watching ep 6 last night and was waiting for a post. why did i start and not wait until januray to binge watch?

now i have to wait every week like a commoner.

i groaned when old hyeri mentioned all the girls he'd dated before they got marries because we are in for a roller coaster of missed opportunities. the taek train is running atm

junghwans maniacal laughing was amazing. ep 4 has to be my favourite.

I like bora she is very similar to me hahaha, so I will like to see more of her, this series seems to have very similar leading ladies, I will like something different, junghwans is just perfect, sun woo its bit clueless and chill like DS was all crying and yelling he was just like she just mad because a like her sister and they hate each other so.
